Hello, My name is desoutter, I am an experienced metal worker - welder - I fabricate cages, restraints: head, mouth, cuffs, etc.. let your imagination run wild! I work with mild steel, aluminum and some composite materials. My pieces are very plain... Although I can perform some intricate work - I prefer Old School style devices. I can perform these services on sort-term sub/slave trade - cash + materials - etc. I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you, desoutter Caste of Metal Workers

Hey there... I do some rather fun stuff with leather and have wanted to make some mirror quality stainless steel cuffs and collars with leather linings. Maybe we could combine forces... Taggard

Hi Taggard, I would be very interested in this! I have no leather skills whatsoever and nothing compliments fine steel like leather trim / linings. Stainless steel is a little more difficult to work with. Cutting / Machining require special tooling and joining / welding is also more difficult than a mild steel. I'm sorry to say, right now I'm just not equipped for it. I would need a good tig machine to do stainless welds - it is my next buy but it'll be a few months. Now I use a lincoln mig and I do oxy acetylene brazing and such for masks. There are some trick things I can do with stainless though - If you can provide the equipment I can do crosshatch/swirl patterns and polish can easily be done. Aluminum can also be very beautiful when polished / crosshatched/swirled. Its also much lighter than stainless but still very tough. Right now I am working on a leg / wrist cross bar in mild steel which I know leather trim would be a great compliment. I will try to get some pics goin' on my progress... This is what I am looking to make: http://www1.stockroom.com/j286plus.htm I can do all of the riviting and leather work, I just need someone to fabricate the steel band with the holes in it. I can also get the locking mechanism... No welds are required, just creating a 2 inch by 13 inch rectangle with the right holes drilled... Taggard

That I can do - I have a 1" strip of stainless in the shop - I'll see if its long enough for collar and cuffs - You want it to look just like the pic? Hole locations? I'll see if I can dig up the locking hasp and a D ring too. That'll locate the holes for the ends of the strap - Give me a couple of days and I'll see if I cant knock it out! desoutter

Knock out two and send them to me, I'll keep one and send one back to you, with a leather collar attached. When I get home, I will send you the exact dimensions I am looking for, with the location and size of the holes. If you want to get creative with the d ring and locking hasp, go for it. Here is a picture featuring some of my leather work...well...perhaps my leather work isn't quite the main attraction of this photo. sweet - I love that weave in the cuff - very nice. I found only one 1" by 13" strip and two smaller strips for the cuffs - All I could find. I'll stop by my buddy's place monday - he should have some more lying around - I started on the long strip already - I'm telling you... once I get going on something.... lol If you dont mind I can use your email address from your link to your homepage for further talks... regards, desoutter

From the photo, it looks like the steel must be pretty thin (20-22 guage if not thinner). Attaching it to the leather should be pretty straight forward, but welding (or screwing) the clasp on there will be the tricky part. I like the weave pattern cuffs...very nice. ~Thorns

The 'clasp' is just a post with a hole through it for a lock. It gets riveted on through a hole in it's base plate. You can see an example of such a post in this picture (at the 8 o'clock position). ~stef

I am a welder/fabricator an was wondering if any one needed any custom work done? I can weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
