i've been collared to Mistress for almost a year now (gosh, doesnt time fly when your having fun, lol) and Mistress has decided that i have out-grown my present name, but i'm as good as stumped as to where to look, that is, a name suitable for a male slave. although we are not into Gor or any thing like that (though there is nothing wrong in that) any advice would be apreciated, though the ultimate decision will be up to Mistress (obviously, lol)

Try looking for words that are meaningful to you or descriptive of you and their translations into other languages. good luck!

Other languages are good... Latin or Greek might add a touch of distinction. My Mistress used Japanese for me, which is very cool. If you haven't already, just talk with Her about it.

Sir is looking for a pet name for me too.
I will encourage nothing except the non-use one word.

My real name, as in birth name, is very difficult to pronounce, even if it doesnt look it, but I do prefer a pet name in private.

Many Owners choose pet or slave names for their submissives/slaves. Not just for online handles, but as something more. Here, let me share a theory i once ran across...

The name you have when you enter into training, or first step into this lifestyle by any means, is the name that identifies YOU. Who you are, who you've been, and even what you are and have been. To recieve a new name is a way of letting that person go, and shedding all that goes with that identity. Granted, that person will always be a part of you somewhere, but most people change and grow into something new when they walk through that door. A new name to symbolize all that you NOW are, and will grow to become.

Another i came across suggested that it was similar to a branding for ownership. By your Master/Mistress giving you a new name, they are taking possession of you... their pet.

Just some food for thought... as for choosing a name. Well, go with what suits you and your natural personality. Only you and your Mistress can really know that.

Master chose my name based on a historical figure. Stateira was said to be the most beautiful woman in Asia. She was captured by and married Alexander the Great. Maybe use something along historical lines?

annabelle is just something He calls me affectionately, or as a joke, every now and then. the name He usually calls me is one He had me pick out, and i chose it from a book i'd read - it really stuck with me as an aspiration for myself.

i personally like the idea of the submissive or slave choosing the name themselves.

Personally, i like that Master calls me by a special name that only He knows. When we're being close and intimate, or just spending time alone, i am someone very special that only He gets to know. So maybe you haven't outgrown your online name. Maybe your Mistress just wants something special she can call you?

Think a name should be chosen for the sub, but one of affection and not one of infliction. :) Nicknames can be alot of fun when you pull them from another language - particularly those with several meanings.

I once decided to choose a craft name for myself by making my own version of Lady Pixie Moondrip's Pagan Name Generator. Not being a programmer, my method involved a bit of data mining, a list of words printed from a word processing program, scissors and a paper bag.

Basically, I looked through a lot of my mystical woo-woo books for words based around my birthdate: Western, Vedic, Chinese, Aztec and other astrologies, tarot, old wive's tales and the like produce an alarming number of plant, animal, diety, jewel, color, day, season, constellation, body part and other words. Lucky numbers, animal affinities, favorite colors and other things that had meaning to me also went into the print out.

As I was cutting up words, I started putting aside ones that caught my eye while others went into the paper bag to be shaken up and drawn from. Eventually, I had a nice enough pile of words set aside that I decided to pay attention to them instead. I actually moved pieces of paper together and fiddled with them until I came up with a name that made me happy.

It's kinda anal-retentive and weird, but it could be a way to piece together a name for yourself out of words that have a chance of meaning something to you. If you do this, don't be afraid to use other languages -- variations on your current scene name, legal name or on the words you select could become part of your new name.
