I know far to well the delima of trying to find plus size clothes I LOVE hot topic clothes but they do not go any larger then 14 or 16 any how im a size 20 . So when i do find clothes they are usually very expensive. And I hate ordering online you never know what it really looks like. And I hate to see a item for a plus size person being worn by a size 5 model. That gives me no idea what it will look like on me. As far as modeling I have seen a few sites that was looking for models any size but im sure you would have to have a portfolio. I have started taking pictures on a digital cam of people really cheap and then sending to there site or may start posting online. Mostly because I think a lot of people would like to see amature people then professional models. Then again maybe its just me lol. Good luck with your search

I won't buy clothes I can not try on. My mom's always like oh these are cute it's in your size and I say no I am not buying from a catalog and she's like well I do and My responce is always well I am not you. I have to see the item feel it try it on see how it looks on me.

Just because something says it's yoursize does not mean it will fit.

Hey there SweetIcing,
Hot topic has the same exact store in plus sizes, called "Torrid"; they are online as www.torrid.com, and They haves stores with even better clothes, corsets, shoes. I like their stuff a lot; my leather mini is from there; bought 1 at full price, and one when they cut cost by 50%; Have many pairs of their shoes (they run a little big/wide). Go looking; I've plenty up to size 26; I myself am size 20. So, go shopping (not too much, lol). M

Hello,

I am totally lost on this thread. Are you looking for fetish wear for plus size people. Or are
you looking for plus size models? Or are you looking to be a plus size model?

I imagine a google search would do the first one. And a talent agency could help you with
the last two.

hey sinergy,

fetish wear for plus size people. And I would love an opertunity to be the one showing the stuff as a + model.

Talent agencies don't want no un heard of. You probably pay out ass for their time too. I am thinking along the lines of normal people like you and mem and anybody else into fetish, that need someone plus size to wear it.

I know it may sound a bit presumptuous...but well for you all that have a time and a half finding clothes....ever think about taking up sewing??? or finding a seamstress??

I know Im just rosemary's granddaughter...spitting image of my father....but well I knew how to sew since i was about 12 remember those smocks and aprons we had to make when we were in the seventh grade??? Well, I managed by the time i was 23 to make a nice little living out of making bridesmaids dresses....never ever the bride too much pressure but I make alot of my clothes still ....and since i had some surgery that left my figure far from normal (I went from wearing a size 18 top and bottom to a size 12 top and size 18 bottom I had to take up the needle again.) ..I have always had a time with pants...but skirts tops and dresses they are a breeze just look in a fabric store the easiest patterns are the simplicity ones... just kink up the fabric and pooof you have some fetich wear....i have a few things that i made out of patterns that were in the costume area... anyone living out in suffolk county give me a holler and ill help walk you through. the whole process...I promise...

. Im happy to say that i have managed to even up the sizes...now a 12 in both the top and bottom...but well when i go in for reconstruction....Ill go back to a reverse problem, hopefully a 14 on top..but hey a bigger top is always an easier time especially with fetish wear....it just means that less of us is covered. LOL...hey I'll have an excuse. My teen age son can't complain about me haveing my ta tas hanging out after all i finally have a wardrobe without tears...he wouldnt want me to have to go out shopping again...only god knows what I'd come back with next time... I only own two things with leather on them....my next will be somethign a bit less motherly...Im certain about that.

This is my area of expertise. (Well, one of them... **teehee**)

First off, no one is going to hop up and give you the opportunity to model for them. This is rare. You have to go "get" it.

Talent agencies do not want someone they've never heard of. You have to go in with a *good* portfolio and a skill set. You have to shoot with a variety of people, in a variety of outfits, with a range of emotions and poses. Modeling is not about sitting on a set and getting your picture taken. You are not at Sears. It's a physically demanding job that requires that you sit in uncomfortable poses, look directly into hot lights, get in and out of cold water, look like you're comfy and having fun when you're sitting on rocks with a bitchy girl that smells like Victorias' Secret threw up on her. It's about making whatever product you're selling (including yourself) look the best it possibly can in the the context it's in. It requires dedication. I have done countless free shoots, put together countless outfits and come up with a multitude of ways to promote myself. And I'm still not "there" yet. It's a career, not a hobby. (unless you are over 5' 8" and weigh under 130 lbs, it's not an option to model as a hobby). **note- I am 5' 3" and weigh approx. 130 lbs right now. I'm a size 8. I am considered large for a fet. model** (I am stating that to point out that I am a normal person. You stated above that normal people aren't really "representing". But they are. What about Betka Shpitz? Or the Velvet Hammer burlesque troupe I think I mentioned earlier on this thread???)

Talent agencies don't charge you anything. They represent you. They get you jobs. They collect your check (in some instances) and they take a percentage. They don't "charge" you. It's a fee that they rightfully deserve.

As for finding a company that wants you to represent them as a "normal" person, that's subjective. A company wants to project an image in a certain light. A lot of companies want to market themselves to as many people as possible. A fetish company that specialized in gear for plus-sized people may be the place to start, but you still have to put in effort. You have to send in shots of yourself looking your best, not lounging about at home. It's not their job to see potential, it's yours to present it.

I'm kind of annoyed with this thread. I took it seriously and answered as best I could. Modeling is not something that happens to you. It's something you do, and I don't think that's being understood.

If you want plus sized clothes that fit and you're comfortable with, make them or order them custom. Off the rack leather and latex and all of that other yummy stuff just simply isn't going to fit anyone right and give you a pleasing aesthetic unless it's cut correctly.

If you want to be a plus sized model, go be one. Book a shoot, buy some outfits, pay for a make up artist or learn how to do hair and make up yourself. If you feel that there's a real demand for clothing in the plus sized range, figure out how to start one up, or join with a company that already exists.

dsamethyst hit the nail on the head when she suggested that sewing was the ticket. I (and most of my cohorts) don't buy our outfits off the rack. They're simple pieces that are elaborated on. (see www.courtneycruz.com for some great examples- she's simply amazing!!) Or they're custom pieces that are payed for. (see www.edenwells.com for an example of a woman who has a wardrobe do die for, not to mention www.emilymarilyn.com)
(I have met both of them briefly, but we're not friends, these are just examples).

I guess my point is (and I do have one) is that perhaps some pro-activity would be in order.

As Always
B

I know how to sew. I hate it. I've sewn my own things before. I was put into sewing class with a bunch of other kids at about 10. till I quit a few years later. You can make a lot of neat things sewing but clothes never was my interest lol. I wanted to make pillows and bags and teddy bears and craft items. It's also tedious and quite frankly in my own personal estimation and interest range boreing.... I stick to lil things I enjoy making lol.

THAT IS NOT a knock on any one else who likes to sew clothes. It's my own personal interest level and opnion

Mz B I belive you most certaintly can do modeling as a hobby. I don't entend to go into some agency and be like yo Here I AM PHOTO GRAPH ME! It certaintly would be an interesting experince, but on a whole, I intend to find and look to find people like me and you and or eventually a dominant, anybody else who shares a like of phptagraphy and fetish things who's a good photagapher. who wants to spenda fun afternoon shooting pictures. I don't have any interest in being a professional go to studio all the time never take pics from home model* yes the fingers finally spelled that right lol.

Maybe I have the wrong idea, Maybe I am right on the money with my idea I don't know.

Maybe that wasn't made intirely clear in my original post. If he's in a talent agency great if not great. I seek experince with people truely into fetish. not some picture agency w ho does it for the pics. someone who GETS and is into the intrensic intracasies* yes spelled wrong most likly* of the stuff. not someone who just says ok fetishware lets shoot.

In everyday normal life generally not puting on stockings or shaving body hair to go to some studio office. they're at home sometimes lounging. or maybe a club. I don't always put a dress on just to go somewhere I dress at home too.* well usualy lol*

not everything has to be done * in my opnion* looking primped and posed. I think best personal expression comes naturally in a setting I would do anyway. Be that in home or a park or posing at someone's work studio.

There are people who model for fun and for a hobby. same as anything in life.. you just have to find those people.

Velvet Hammer burlesque troupe not sure I saw that site. I looked up the words and came up with an acting site.

INFACT there's a site called bobbydrop seats who wants amiture people to come try their things for pictures. I contacted them once tho and never got a responce other wise I'd be doing it for them. Plus their stuff's not all that cute in my personal experince.

yes I know that's an issue on my own end. I am very aware of it.

edited for an after thought. in middle of post lol

I'm not telling you that you should spend all of your time in studios. I'm not telling you to go get your picture taken at one. Sure, take pictures at home. That's fine. but you're not going to find WORK as a model unless you've put the TIME and EFFORT in.

Most of the fetish photographers I'm aware of DO have personal kinks and express them through art. Ken Marcus, Ian Rath, Christine Kessler, blah blah. I don't think that you've done your research.

????? I'm sure there are people out there who DO model as a hobby. But they are special, unique and talented people. It's tough to get noticed as a model. It's tough to get gigs. I think the place might not respond because people get busy, people forget, I don't know for sure.

You don't have to be married to someone to get profesional quality tools. There's quite a few people non professional studio's that have studio gear at home. finding those people are the key.

I don't see anywhere on that site where it says anything about fetish models. All I saw was

If you had investigated and inspected a little more you would have clicked on "Cast" which would have taken you to a page where they showcased all of the artists in the troupe. They are all models in one way or another, generally considered "plus-sized" and some have links.
