ORIGINAL: FelinePersuasion hey sinergy, fetish wear for plus size people. And I would love an opertunity to be the one showing the stuff as a + model. Talent agencies don't want no un heard of. You probably pay out ass for their time too. I am thinking along the lines of normal people like you and mem and anybody else into fetish, that need someone plus size to wear it. This is my area of expertise. (Well, one of them... **teehee**) First off, no one is going to hop up and give you the opportunity to model for them. This is rare. You have to go "get" it. Talent agencies do not want someone they've never heard of. You have to go in with a *good* portfolio and a skill set. You have to shoot with a variety of people, in a variety of outfits, with a range of emotions and poses. Modeling is not about sitting on a set and getting your picture taken. You are not at Sears. It's a physically demanding job that requires that you sit in uncomfortable poses, look directly into hot lights, get in and out of cold water, look like you're comfy and having fun when you're sitting on rocks with a bitchy girl that smells like Victorias' Secret threw up on her. It's about making whatever product you're selling (including yourself) look the best it possibly can in the the context it's in. It requires dedication. I have done countless free shoots, put together countless outfits and come up with a multitude of ways to promote myself. And I'm still not "there" yet. It's a career, not a hobby. (unless you are over 5' 8" and weigh under 130 lbs, it's not an option to model as a hobby). **note- I am 5' 3" and weigh approx. 130 lbs right now. I'm a size 8. I am considered large for a fet. model** (I am stating that to point out that I am a normal person. You stated above that normal people aren't really "representing". But they are. What about Betka Shpitz? Or the Velvet Hammer burlesque troupe I think I mentioned earlier on this thread???) Talent agencies don't charge you anything. They represent you. They get you jobs. They collect your check (in some instances) and they take a percentage. They don't "charge" you. It's a fee that they rightfully deserve. As for finding a company that wants you to represent them as a "normal" person, that's subjective. A company wants to project an image in a certain light. A lot of companies want to market themselves to as many people as possible. A fetish company that specialized in gear for plus-sized people may be the place to start, but you still have to put in effort. You have to send in shots of yourself looking your best, not lounging about at home. It's not their job to see potential, it's yours to present it. I'm kind of annoyed with this thread. I took it seriously and answered as best I could. Modeling is not something that happens to you. It's something you do, and I don't think that's being understood. If you want plus sized clothes that fit and you're comfortable with, make them or order them custom. Off the rack leather and latex and all of that other yummy stuff just simply isn't going to fit anyone right and give you a pleasing aesthetic unless it's cut correctly. If you want to be a plus sized model, go be one. Book a shoot, buy some outfits, pay for a make up artist or learn how to do hair and make up yourself. If you feel that there's a real demand for clothing in the plus sized range, figure out how to start one up, or join with a company that already exists. dsamethyst hit the nail on the head when she suggested that sewing was the ticket. I (and most of my cohorts) don't buy our outfits off the rack. They're simple pieces that are elaborated on. (see www.courtneycruz.com for some great examples- she's simply amazing!!) Or they're custom pieces that are payed for. (see www.edenwells.com for an example of a woman who has a wardrobe do die for, not to mention www.emilymarilyn.com) (I have met both of them briefly, but we're not friends, these are just examples). I guess my point is (and I do have one) is that perhaps some pro-activity would be in order. As Always B
