I am just wondering if CM members arrived at their hard limits through trial and error, or just imagining what is beyond the beyond. Would ou ever let anyone change your hard limits and why ?

I agree with LA -- most of my "hard limits" are based on what I perceive to be "health issues" and those things that are beyond my comprehension on a moral/ethical scale.  In most cases, my "hard limits" are not even something that anyone should consider -- if we are not compatible in that area then you need to move on.  That would be why they are "hard" limits.  :)

However, I will admit that there are only a handful of things that I consider to be a "hard limit" so that's not really a problem in most cases.

Sir wanted me to mention the nubian goats and the trampoline, but I will keep that story to myself for now. [sm=trident.gif]

my hard limits are based on common sense.  Anything where if done improperly, could result in the death of me or someone else, for example, is a hard limit.  That includes choking or other breath play (i have a drowning phobia).  Anything that could result in a prison term, which includes things like prostitution or indiscreet public humiliations and of course robbing a bank, rape, etc.  And i also don't engage in activities where the result is likely to be permanent damage to body or psyche.

See now - how hard is that really? Have a Dom or Master who you know enough, and trust enough to surrender your limits and live under his.

From the Master side of the equation. Those "challenges" are amusing. It would be as if I owned a Lamborghini but the only way to prove that I owned it would be to push it over a cliff. Well, I value beth more than any other "possession". The idea of chopping off a limb to prove I "own" her, or as a demonstration of her "no limits" submission to me, has no chance of occurring. Guess that makes us fakes and posers.

Gee.... I thought it made ya'll awesome.
