i think this might actualy work, both from the chemicals being relesed in the brain, and becouse it do stimulate the acupuncture points. Offcourse i do not know if this would be beneficail or not. But it is interesting. i am siffering from depression and angsiety, prhaps i should try this teraphy.

Fellow depressive here...but I do advise caution because any great changes in my body chemistry can cause me to spazz out.

On a related note, isn't this the theory behind the movie 'Secretary?'. I do hope it's true because I hate not really knowing why submission works for me, and this theory makes so much sense.

Sounds good to me. I'm never depressed when I'm whipping somebody.

I saw a show along time ago where there were children with breathing problems. In Australia they would place the child in a head down position on a slanted table and would begin to slap / hit his back vigorously and it did appear to be a new therapy that was working when nothing else would.

lol i realize this discussion started 4 months ago and im a bit late coming in... but i felt that i should speak up... i know for me, as a long term monopolar depressive(read that as im depressed alot for long periods of time) anytime i do painplay(especially flogging/whipping) i feel MUCH better, my depression releases me, at least for a bit... as an ongoing thing(maybe even as little as once a month) it actually causes my overall mood to lighten, my energy to increase and my mind to work better/more creatively... although gods forbid the FDA gets ahold of this information, they'll spur a crackdown

When i was diagnosed with sleep apnoea and given a full-face cpap machine
i couldn't wear it due to claustrophobia. The medical therapist said i should
get involved with bondage, find someone to help me conquer the fear.

Gotta love suggestions like that.

You happen to have that therapist's name and number? Something tells me she knows this from experience...

The putting a child head first down and slapping their back is called lavage. A type of therapy for helping with breathing problems and well can leave you bruised very badly for months, but helps with the breathing issue.

As for whipping. I love the endorphins that kick in when I whip someone, whether soft or hard. I feel so refreshed and so exhilerated afterwards. Just love whilpping someone.

Damn...~goes hunting for a whipping post~

I remember reading an article about someone who survived a terminal illness with a relatively short projected lifespan for ages who just so happened to be into *really* heavy painplay.

Wouldn't be that physicist guy, I never can remember his name... and I am married to a genius, go figure. She can explain M Theory, and I can't remember the guy's name. Anyhow, the fellow has ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease, and he has way outlived the usual prognosis for the disease. He always has that smile on, and here I thought it was because of the facial paralysis.......

Stephen Hawking. He's the author of a great popular book, A Brief History of Time, everyone should read it. It explains some very complex issues in simple language so that anyone can follow.

i have had to deal with bi-polar, depression and anxiety all my life and have been on every pill on the market, and therapy doesn't work when i can nearly quote the DRs and know what they are going to say before they say it. pills are only effective for approximately 3 months and talking only makes things worse. perhaps i should discuss this "therapy" with my Mistress.

Speaking as depressive, Pain does help. I have seen it help me and my master when he's sad. Nothing raises the spirits like a nice spanking (or flogging, or waxing, or...)
