"lets die the Chicago river green, every year"   thus- it happens.

in order to clean up lake michigan- they reversed the course of the Chicago river- which isnt the freshest water to fall into.

"Happy Pre-Birthday"

Every year since I was 4 my mother has wished me a "Happy Pre-Birthday" on St.Patrick's Day because it is the day she found out she was pregnant with me. I was her first and that news was also what kept my father from going to Vietnam because she was only 17 at the time. Yes, she was married to my father at the time, they had gotten married when she was 14 and he was 18 and it was a legal marriage. Parental consent.
They are still married and in 2008 will have been married for 50 years.

May those that love us love us
and those that don't may God turn their hearts.
But if He does not turn their hearts may He turn their ankles
so we'll know them by their limping.

These are some of my favorites........

May you never forget what is worth remembering,
Or remember what is best forgotten.

There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are friendships, and may they always be.

May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.

A man is a man when his woman is a woman.

A Wish for a Friend

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

not exactly a Saint Patrick's Day thing, but it's my favorite toast; i figure it counts since it deals with alcohol...

May your journey be ever greater than your destination.

also

Won't you hang upside-down and come kiss me Blarney-Stone

Lorelei115 -> RE: Best St Patrick Day sayings? (3/5/2007 10:21:36 AM)

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

(Traditional Irish Blessing; origin unknown,
although some attribute it to St. Patrick.)

gooddogbenji -> RE: Best St Patrick Day sayings? (3/5/2007 10:30:05 AM)

May the wind at your back always be your own.

Yours,

benji

Kiss My sweet Irish Ass....very slowly

;^)

Ok, no really....kiss it.

Note...that was not a personal request of SirDiscipliner69, merely my favorite Irish saying.
