So recently I had pointed out to me that I had a latex/rubber fetish. I haven't actually had a chance to try out any gear yet, so does anyone have advice on how to get started? (preferably on a budget?)

Cheap and latex really don't go together.

There are two types of latex; molded and glued seams.

The molded latex is formed in a mold.  The less expensive skirts, shirts, hoods, gloves, socks and leggings are made this way.  The molded latex is thinner typically.  Being thinner the molded latex also has a tendancy to rip easier.  Check ebay for the masses of molded latex.

The latex with glued seams is what you see in the fashion shoots, and is more expensive.  You will not find a good latex catsuit for under $200 and can easily pay upwards of $500.  On Ebay there is limited latex with glued seams.  The reasons this type of latex is more expensive is that all of the clothes are hand made,  and the latex is thicker. A lot of this stuff is custom made to fit also.

Look around on the web at the latex shops and get to know what you would like and at the same time keep an eye on ebay, some good stuff pops up.

yeah... I kinda figured it wouldn't be cheap. Anyways, thanks for the advice; I'll just have to see how deep my pockets go. *chuckles*

There is one issue I have with ordering latex clothing online... How well can you tell something is going to fit? Is it something a good set of measurements can solve?

If you have it custom made, it will fit, as they should take about 20 measurements from you.  Buy a tailor's tape, (just a cloth tape) and know your measurements.  That way you can ask what the measuements of the item are.  Just like jeans, you want that perfect fit.

Polymorphe makes some great gear...it is out of Canada...he makes his own latex, most companies use 4d rubber sheetng out of Europe. And yes I wear a lot of it,have a bit of a fetish for it...lol...but , like DChammer said ,cheap and latex do not go together!

Try getting pieces. You can get a top and a pair of leggings and it will give you the look of a catsuit and make your wardrobe versatile...at least until you see what you "need"!

enjoy!

If you look around, occasionally you can find a deal. Something on sale...etc Stay away from the one size fits all stuff unless you are real small as most of the time it wont fit anyone that isnt a size 4 or smaller.

lol... will do. Can't say it'll help much though unless you're coming to Oregon to buy stuff :-P

Though if you have the money to do that, you're better off going to england and getting stuff there.

So I hopped on ebay and found a catsuit for $109! It en't that nice but I figured it's my first and I want to try it out before I make any major purchases. (Thanks for reccomending that, tho, whoever you were). Anyways.. I got one with the feet attached and the whole thing appears to be molded tho there are a couple of spots where it's been glued (zipper, collar line). Anyways, I was wondering if it would affect the integrity of the garment itself if I just cut the feet off?

It shouldn't.  Just make sure it's a nice even cut and it should be just fine.  A rotary cutter would be the ideal tool to do it.
