Okay, I haven't been to a "dress code" event in.. well. Since puberty, it feels like. But I've promised to go to provide a friend with emotional support. I've been a Master for years.. And all of a sudden, somebody expects me to walk into a bar in latex pants? Good gravy..

So my question: Quick fashion tips from my peers. What can I wear to a dress code event and not feel like a dork... I'm kind of typically a jeans and dress shirt, or suit and tie kind of guy...

Is there a "fab five in leather" support number, somewhere?[:@]

There's a dress code? I've noticed that black leather boots, vests and pants seem to be pretty popular but that may also be a midwestern thing. We tend to lag 6 months to a year behind trends found on the coasts. Honestly though, I've not witnessed anything even approximating a dress code or even a serious trend.

My personal thing is black suits. Something I get to do all the time. Pick something That reflects your personality. Motorcycle gear is always a hit by the way. Damn God, jeans and a good belt is all it takes to do the job. :)

Depends on where you go. If you're going to a gay leather bar- dress code is very important. Leathers are the way people pick out who to cruise.

If you're going to a normal party night, most people wear black or leather or just tshirt and jeans, specially the males.

If it's a special party or event, you might want to don the leather vest or just a dress outfit. Wearing a nice suit never goes wrong.

Men tend to have it a lot easier at events.

My girl would tend to agree, lol. I tend to dress her up in short skirts, showing off the legs she thinks are too fat, and putting her long, blonde hair up in pigtails, which makes her cringe. I think she looks adorable but she feels a lil bit self-conscious, even when she's not the only one there with pigtails.
I, on the other hand, tend to wear dress shirts and khakis, sometimes with a leather vest, sometimes without one. I would say that, at least within the Indianapolis area, T-shirts are not commonly seen on the males, unless they're submissive or very young. Of course the Midwest, in general, can tend to be somewhat conservative. Jeans and black boots are not uncommon, though, and work well with a nice shirt and black leather vest.

I wear black jeans, black long sleeved T shirts with various celtic crosses on them and a black shirt over top. It depends on the shirt underneath. If it has crosses up the arms I wear a short sleeve shirt over top. If it does not I wear long sleeved shirts over top and a grey or white T underneath to accent the cross. Then I wear My black leather jacket. That is how I am most comfortable and I seem to have no problems fitting in.

When attending local Montreal events with "dress codes", my life partner, Master Michael, usually will wear the black leather pants that I gave to him as a gift, along with a dark coloured long sleeved silk shirt. This comes off as being dressy, and yet classic, with just a touch of Dom. It is as passable at a BDSM Munch in a vanilla setting, as it is at local "Fetish Nights".

He also has a few very nice dark dress shirts made with a fabric that has a "peach fuzz" texture to them, that many women find attractive as the tactile response is to want to stroke it <grin>... One is in a muted dark burgundy and the other in a dark smoke blue.

Hope this advice proves helpful...

dress code event? I dont think I've heard of that one before! I guess I have'nt been out in a while - I always wear the same thing, for the most part - black jeans - caterpillar boots - and a T-shirt (my favorite T-shirt to wear is a little boy and a little girl holding up a sign that says "vaginas are weird"). The jacket I wear is a mechanics short jacket - has my name over the pocket.
I dont think I have ever been to a place were your appearance was more important than your actions - I have been invited by friends to the leather clad bashs but always wear the same thing - fifteen minutes into a conversation they know who you are and noone cares what your wearing. Thats just my experience... It may not be the same for everyone. If you go to a halloween party you wear a costume... If you go to a BDSM party you go dressed as who you are... if you are a leather clad master, thats who you are... If your jeans and a shirt - go have fun... I dont know - I could be wrong...
call me crazy!

Thanks everybody.. I just wore black jeans and a black dress shirt, and nobody seemed to care... I guess "dress code" isn't terrifically formal, in this case. Whew.

But, I appreciate the advice.

This is why I hardly ever wear black and red to clubs. Last time I wore red was on Valentine's day and I wore a red pvc bustier over a white dress and the last time I wore black was when the corset pic of me was taken about 3 months ago.

I love to dress up and be original :)

SirKenin -> RE: Dom To Dom (4/5/2005 3:54:29 PM)

lol Emerald. I love black and celtic symobilism. It is almost a fetish of mine. The majority of My wardrobe is black, whether it be designer jeans, a couple of pairs of plain jeans (I hate them, but sometimes they are a necessity, like to a service call) and a black suit that I am wearing in the pic I will attach. I then have black or white designer shirts, celtic shirts and hoodies and some miscellaneous designer hoodies that I wear. I do have off the wall clothing too, but I do not really like wearing it to a Fet party. I prefer to wear it elsewhere, such as to a vanilla event at the bar (although I do wear My other clothing there too and have several pictures of that). At fet parties I am most happy wearing black/celtic clothing. It seems to suit Me the best for some reason and it works well in that environment. I do not wear leather except for My jacket. I do not know whether leather pants or a vest would even suit Me. Besides, everyone else wears that.

One thing I do hope to do is have a leather full length coat with hood made for Me. Well, either leather or some type of fabric. I have yet to go down and see her yet to get it started, however.

I find that even at our play space in Hartford CT..the men dress casual and the women are the ones very fetishy...although i love fetish on me ...

SirKenin -> RE: Dom To Dom (4/5/2005 5:03:25 PM)

The women are very "fetishy" at O/our parties too. I like it actually.
