Aren't Actions committed under the circumstances (B) Perjury?

'statements, representations, writings or documents submitted by such party or counsel to a judge or magistrate in that proceeding.'

Yeah... Anything submitted to the court would have to be signed under penalty of perjury.

(C) applies to the Legislative Branch Matters.

Keep Searching for those cut-outs, though.

You are a hoot, FB!

You said lying was illegal.  I asked for a source.  Your source doesn't bear out your claims.

And then you make some kinda off the wall comment that I need to keep trying!

"Lying" per se isn't illegal.

You are exactly correct.

The crime is referred to as "perjury"

p.s.  Wasnt Slick Willie impeached for the crime of lying to Congress?

Perjury: Lying under oath about a material matter.

That's still not saying that "lying" is illegal, sorry.

True. When folks from DOJ told Congress that the firings were due to performance issues, were they speaking under oath? I honestly don't know.

Thank you for answering the question as to why Monkeyboy wont allow anybody who works for him to testify.

I am curious whether lying to Congress and the UN about untruths relating to Iraq qualifies as testifying under oath.

Monkeyboy did take an oath to protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.  Would lying to Congress and putting our soldiers in harms way qualify as testifying under oath?

Was  I asked a question?

dcnovice -> RE: What is George Bush hiding?????? Can you say "Impeach"? (3/21/2007 6:09:05 PM)

Well, you were responding to my last post, which contained a question.

luckydog1 -> RE: What is George Bush hiding?????? Can you say "Impeach"? (3/21/2007 6:09:13 PM)

Seriously though isnt this the 14th thing that the Dems were going to impeach Bush over?   Now that the Valerie Plame thing is over with, it is on to the next impeachable offense.  I suppose it will satisfy the partisan base, and distract from the fact that the 100 hours is not going to become law.

I thought Nancy Pelosi said from the beginning that impeaching Bush was off the table. I honestly don't see it happening.

How?

How?

Part *A* is in play, UNLESS Part B or C covers it, and part B is limited to those cases where lying is prosecuted as Perjury, and so is Part C.

So you're either prosecuted under 18USC1001 for lying, or 18USC1621 for perjury.

Either way, the crime of lying is prosecuted.

Lying to The People, and by extension any office of the Government is a crime. Martha Stewart got nailed under 18USC1001, and if SHE couldn't beat the rap...

1.  You don't seem to understand the difference between "a lie" and "a misapprehension" about the facts.

2.  Assuming that there were many "misapprehensions"

3.  If he considered certain members of Congress to be enemies of the US, would he be legally in the clear to lie to them?  [:D]

4.  What "lies" has the President said to Congress, while under oath?

luckydog1 -> RE: What is George Bush hiding?????? Can you say "Impeach"? (3/21/2007 6:12:15 PM)

ok, I was actually addressing Firm, but no, they were not under oath.  IF they had been caught lying under oath, we would really be hearing about it.  This is just smoke and noise to cover the fact that the 100 hours is not becoming law and the Dems have no stance regarding Iraq.  It keeps the partisan base happy though.

luckydog1 -> RE: What is George Bush hiding?????? Can you say "Impeach"? (3/21/2007 6:13:42 PM)

Dc neither do I, but the partisan Base is demanding it.  The Op of this threas calls for it, as do many of our posters in here.

Asked and answered.

I posted weeks or months ago about the 25 reasons to impeach Monkeyboy.

It listed the various lies.  Additionally, various other posters have provided similar things.

The search function might help.

You know, you don't have to be under OATH to be prosecuted for:

"A "false" or "fraudulent" representation is one that is:
(a) made with knowledge that it is untrue;
(b) a half-truth;
(c) made without a reasonable basis or with reckless indifference as to whether it is, in fact, true or false; or
(d) literally true, but intentionally presented in a manner reasonably calculated to deceive a person of ordinary prudence and intelligence.

The knowing concealment or omission of information that a reasonable person would consider important in deciding an issue also constitutes fraud."

All you have to do is make the false statement.
