How about ambidextrous? No? Oh, well, just a thought.*s*

In the sense of swinging from either side of the plate ?  Thanks for making me grin

I feel do much better now that someone else resurrected this puppy...

Me, I try not to use any labels for a role - I'm in a relationship with this person. I might drop a hint of the form of "I'm with Her." or She's with me," but that's about it for the most part. If using protocol-type honorifics work for them, I'll oblige - but I don't ask for them if I'm the dominant partner. I get that out of the system with people calling me "Chef" or "professor" and me getting paid for it.

Yes, rather vanilla with a healthy dose of habanero jelly and plum chutney on top.

The understanding is generally that if I'm talking in general about X, then I both top and bottom it. If I say that I'm curious about X, it means I'm still learning about it and am willing to bottom it with you to see what you like about it. If in the conversation I see that you get confused or unclear yet turned on by it, I'll offer to show you what I mean (top).

None of this requires anything but standard English or common gestures as used in everyday situations.

If someone "presents themselves" to me and I get a whiff of roleplay, I laugh my ass off and escort them out the door. Do it seriously and you *will* be inspected as the object that you are claiming to be. Does that make sense in this context?

Honey, you obviously missed the "want to be used as a toilet fetish" thread or "where do I get instructions on setting my sub on fire" thread. LOL

Thank you, DelRay for that one.

I find switching has less to do with greed than it is a study in empathy (Tho i'm not denying the pleasure principle!)

Have your cake and eat it too?

It's more like loving to serve cake... and love eating it too. :)

Are there other terms people that people use in addition to switch? I have heard a few people use the word "versatile". At the moment my favorite phrase is "big bag of chocalate chip cookies." I like this phrase because it implies being all at once. Do you have any favorite switch phrases?
