"Britain, Denmark to Pull Out Troops From Iraq"
"Britain, along with Denmark, confirmed it would begin a major troop withdrawal from Iraq in coming months and Lithuania too has indicated it may follow suit. Washington however denies its coalition is crumbling.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Wednesday the British force in southern Iraq would drop from 7,100 to 5,500 in coming months and could fall below 5,000 this year.

Blair, who has seen his popularity erode at home over his decision to go to war, said that soldiers however would remain into 2008 to provide support and training if Iraq wanted.

Following Britain's lead, Denmark and Lithuania said they would withdraw most of their troops by August. "

And the point is?

Incidentally, it was only a day or so after this announcement that there was a new announcement, basically pledging those Brits withdrawn from Iraq to go to Afghanistan to get shot at in another unwinnable war. Join the army, see the world, you know?

I hope reasonable Americans will thank these people for the help they have given ... and wish them well.

The Afghanistan War and the Iraq war should be viewed seperately.
Afghanistan was an appropriate response to 9/11, it had world support and world involvement, there was no significant external assistance initially after the US / NATO invasion.

Failure in Afghanistan opens up clear potential for Pakistan to become unstable and a Nuclear state to become an extreme Islamic Republic.......

Why do I despise Bush, because he turned success in Afghanistan into potential failure.

The UK should continue to increase fighting units in Afghanistan, for the same reason they were kept for years in Northern Ireland, we can not win it, it will not end soon, but it is necessary until the local population gets its act together. And just like Northern Ireland, every year soldiers will die (probably on a larger scale) but withdrawl should not be considered an option because the genocide that will occur if the Taliban returns should be unthinkable.

I agree with Caitlyn, and I imagine they will continue to help with the reconstruction efforts as well.  None are completly withdrawing.
