mixielicous -> aviane, birth control pill (3/21/2007 11:47:25 AM)

as someone who has tried it all [ortho tri cyclen, nuva, depo]

i would like to share my success with aviane, a low dose hormone birth control pill

i swich onto this after i suspected i was getting high levels of hormones from the nuva ring [even though it has lower dosage, there is no way to control accidental seepage, and a constant output will cause more emotions vs. a pill which imitates your own bodies regular daily dosage of hormones to itself].

i used to suffer very tender breasts, and long heavy periods. the sensitivity is 100% gone and my periods run about 3 very LIGHT days with little or no cramping. i experienced minor water weight gain and have more stable moods.

i highly recommend aviane

edit to add, when i went on nuva is when the periods got light, but the pill made it one day shorter and cramp free. i also have no more break outs [pimples] during my period.. which i have gotten since i was 13....

I also had good luck with Aviane.  Not as heavy flow and a lot less crampiness.  Not really shorter, for me, but better overall.  Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover it now, so I'm on something comparable, which works well for me.

It worked well for me for about 2 years, then i had constant break through bleeding, longer periods, clotting etc.... my doc said my body got used to it. Tried Yasmin and had a horrible experience, so i got my tubes tied.  Sometimes it's good being 40.

I am one step up from aviane, I am a heavier girl and needed more hormones (that, and I am doing the three months at a time thing).

But, congrats on finding a BC method for you!

i would go on a low dose BC pill. aviene is one of many available.

When my daughter started she had to go on a pill for 6 months to regulate her cycle, you might want to try that. Talk to your dr. and start with the lowest dose they recommend. And don't forget it doesn't protect against diseases :)
