I'll have a cognac please, but if a bar is too cheap to carry it, I'll have something with either Gin or Vodka...  Green Apple Martini perhaps.   M

Long Island Tea  or  a Walk Me Down gets my blood running nicely.   Sometimes a Corona w/Lime hits the spot ok also.

A long Island Iced tea, while wonderful tasking, knocks me on my arse with a quickness, so I only have it when I can babysit it a while.   M

Vodka, room temp, straight up.  A few pitchers of beer after that, if the goal is to get wasted.

Actually if you have a "regular" group set 1 person up as the DD then then next time the group goes out for drinks the previous DD gets their bar tab picked-up, going with 5 people that is pretty fair and not a hard hit on the wallet

I quit drinking a some time ago... booze generally makes me ill nowadays.

But I ain't DDing, no way, no how. When you tote a carload of loaded fools around, they invariably want to stop at some open late fast food drive through and take, like, 30 minutes to place their orders. Then they throw all this money at you and you're expected to keep the change straight. Oh, let's not forget the puking out the window.

Haha, screw THAT, my evenings out do not include babysitting a bunch o' drunken monkeys. Not anymore....Call a cab. =)

greetings

I am always the designated driver when we go out, so no drinking for me  However, if we are at home, I sometimes have a beer or two; but never anything stronger.

I wish you well

A hale and hearty "Hell Yeah!". Know your limitations. Comport yourself with a degree of dignity. Personally, I'm a beer snob. Anything less than a decent micro brew isn't making it past my luscious lips. So it's bloody rare if I ever have more than 2 drafts in a night. A night out at a bar/club consisting of at least 4 hours. When I socialize with my buddies, it's to do just that, not get FUBARed.

For those interested, here's a basic rule of thumb in monitoring your BAC.
  1. Beer - one 12 oz. glass per hour. (Unless it's over proofed.)
  2. Wine - one 4 oz. glass per hour.
  3. Hard Liquor - one ounce per hour.
I was a bartender in my younger years and this is just a handy way to keep track of what you're consuming and how it will affect you. Alcohol is concentrated differently depending on the type of beverage you're imbibing. I could've posted some link to BAC calculator, but who's got time or inclination to use that when you're hanging out with your crew?

Bottom line; be responsible, know your limits, and if you're wobbling as you roll out the door? Hands the damn keys to someone else and hail a cab.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

Bella

Margaritas are my favorite. I also like wine occasionally, certain schnapps like butterscotch and cinnamon, Smirnoff Ice Triple black and Tequila Rose.

I used to drink. A lot. But I just dont like it anymore, so I drink coffee! You should see the looks I get from staff and patrons alike for requesting coffee in a boozer LOL!

Most I ever drank was 13 pints of beer, though possibly the litre bottle of Jamesons whisky (30th birthday) might be more. I can still drink like that if I put my mind to it, but to be honest it just doesnt interest me.

Katy, I was just thinking the same thing. I rarely get more than "glowy" and usually switch to water or coffee before the end of the night. I prefer to avoid the county hilton.

Favourite evening drink all depends on my moooooooood. I have been known to sip a good whiskey or bourbon straight up. Same with a good vodka. Gin and tonic with lime is a favourite for hot summer weather. After a really great dinner in a nice restaurant, an expresso and a port or two is a fine dessert.

Edited to add: I can drink ALOT of margaritas and tend to become quite fearless. Think a group of adults taking over a roller skating rink after several hours of many many pitchers of them. It was...........interesting. The best part..... no one had to go to the emergency room.
