i would tell you after i loved and trusted you.  Which would be long before any proposal let alone wedding.

LOL, and I would tell you the rest of the story, and many times you have fucked up the chance by then, as many know.   so that is real iffy

makemeDaddy -> RE: You'll leave me if I tell you... (3/26/2007 6:14:23 PM)

i'm not saying one shouldn't share personal, private or painful things.  Just i think it's a wise thing to wait until you love and trust someone before hand.

Personally, i will tell the person when i feel it is the right time.  If that person is upset with me for not telling them sooner, then in my opinion i made a mistake in sharing anything personal with them at all.

Devilslilsister -> RE: You'll leave me if I tell you... (3/26/2007 6:15:05 PM)

No, they dont loom over me anymore.  Master has worked hard to teach me "that was you then, not now".  Master sums it as well from a scene from the lion king.  When Rafikki bops Simba over the head.  "you can even learn from it...."

i also think that it's a matter of what exactly the secret is.  "I spent time in prison" is a bit different then "I was raped".

actually those deal breaker truthes are the ones i  try to get out of the way in the beginning. why waste my time or theirs if this "thing" will just ruin it in the end.  i hope i understood the question correctly.

Oh... deal breakers?  Yup... out of the way and right away!  No kids, no smokers, nobody more than a day-trip away, no ex's "that don't matter cuz we're more like brother and sister, now"...  I wasn't talking about THOSE.  (Yes...I've heard that last one several many times!!!)

I'm with you there...I figure we're here (many of us) lookin; might as well be upfront.  Why bother if there is no way it's gonna work, anyway?  Ugg, I'm not here for a penpal.

How about just the fear of them leaving if you tell them you love them? [&o]

I thought I was in love once...I even said the words, but I was wrong...

I think if it was something that was inherently "me" I have to tell, otherwise its living a lie.  Just like I had to tell my ex that he could never be everything to me... yes he did leave, but it is okay.  Better that he is gone than both of us are miserable.

You have to tell the "person" all of the bad shit....No one wants to hear your dirt from some other source.

Everything I have learned in life I have learned from Bruce Springsteen....I nursed from the teat of the Boss.

Everybody's got a secret, Sonny,
Something that they just can't face,
Some folks spend their whole lives trying to keep it,
They carry it with them every step that they take.
Till some day they just cut it loose
Cut it loose or let it drag 'em down,
Where no one asks any questions,
or looks too long in your face,
In the darkness on the edge of town.

Thank you Bruce....Couldn't have said it better....Is there anyone out here named Rosalita?

Have to run, going to meet some friends  "'neath that giant Exxon sign
That brings this fair city light."

You owe me a story!!

ownedgirlie -> RE: You'll leave me if I tell you... (3/26/2007 6:36:58 PM)

Sure, I thought once he learned "who I really am" he would be gone.  But the more he learned the more I knew he would stay.  As I expressed to someone just today, he is the first person in my life to accept all of me.  There is nothing I could tell him about myself that would cause him to leave.  There is nothing I could tell him about myself that he doesn't already know anyway.

Man, there's an opera out on the turnpike;
a crowd achin' for it out in the alley;

When clarence hits the pipes that goes to max and I get lost............

Beneath---the city;
Two heart's beat;
Soul engines runnin' thru a night so tender;
in a bedroom locked;
in whispers of soft ---refusal and then surrender----------
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight-- in Jungleland--------

"Okey Dokey, my name, for all of you who don't know me, is Matt Foley and I am a motivational speaker.
Now before we get to the spinning class, let me give you a little bit of a scenario of what my life is all about.
First off, I am 35 years old, I am thrice divorced and I live in a van down by the river!" - Chris Farley, SNL

'You love me now, but you will leave me if I tell you.'

Is there something about you, about yourself, which you feel or have ever felt that way?  Whether it is something intrinsic within you, or something you have done?

Does it still loom over you?

How have you dealt with that problem?  Have you ever revealed that 'thing' to the one you love, and who loves you, but does not know?

Nope, I have nothing to hide.

There are things about myself I don't go advertising to the world but I tell everyone in my life that I will answer any question asked openly and honestly. The only stipulations is if they ask they better be ready and willing to accept the responsibility of the answer. I will not lie just to sugar coat something or to make someone feel better.
