Lashra -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 12:35:21 AM)

I'm a white woman and I have an ass. In fact my sub says I have a "yummy" ass. Most white men have flat asses[:'(] while black men generally have nice asses. My sub is white and has a nice yummy ass. Maybe we are just the "wierdos" amongst our race[;)]

As for smell, he tells me that I smell "nice" and that my scent drives him wild. I think he smells pretty damn nice and it drives me wild. Other whitefolk I tend not to smell because I like my space and tend not to get to close to people. Although a white guy did pass me in CVS the other day and he smelled like a roadkill skunk on a hot summer day[:'(]ughhhh

I am curious about Indian people (From India) why do they paint the henna on their hands? I think it looks really pretty, but I have no idea what it means.

I never knew of "red-head prejudice" until I met beth. Just goes to show - we are all subject to thoughts and assumptions that we'll never know.

Now THAT'S a new one on me!    What's THAT all about!?

Have you heard the saying "beaten like a redhaired stepchild?" Yep there is redhair prejudice out there. We are looked at as "hotheads" or as unattractive because our hair is so "bright"[:'(] I once had a boyfriend make fun of me because of my ghost white skin and red hair. He wasn't my boyfriend for long. Then there are people who go crazy for my hair. Also everyone assumes that I am Irish, I'm not irish at all both sides of my family are German[:)]

LadyEllen -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 5:08:42 AM)

This thread has sadly deteriorated into the very prejudiced stereotyping which it was tasked to avoid, with posts from certain contributors blatantly and overtly caricaturing a specific group as evil and freakish. This is extremely disappointing and betrays the sure and certain fact that despite several decades of progress, some are unable to leave old fashioned, offensive and frankly ridiculous notions behind.

I speak here as someone of mixed hair colour who has a fair amount of red hair in with the browns and blondes, alongside bleach white skin that burns even in a British summer. My grandma had brilliant red hair and the same skin colour so presumably I have inherited this from her, and you couldnt find a nicer person on the planet, and I hope I've inherited that from her too.

So, be nice to the redheads, and to us mixed hair types, because we're not at all evil or freakish. And if you dont, we'll go berserker on you, rip out your innards and eat them in front of you as you die.

Thanks

E

hmmm I am not sure what the henna signifies but I know it sure looks beautiful.  I went to a nieces wedding earlier this year and she had henna on her hands and feet. I do know (I think) that the different coloured bindi's (dots/decorations women wear on the forehead) have different meanings - red - single, black is married....or is it the other way around??

Fortunately, having a wife of English/Irish descent, i carry a powerful ultraviolet light for just such an emergency [:)]

I want to know why hindue's were turbans, and why do black getto men like to wear those due rags tied in black mammie house coo,k style.

The turban is worn by Hindus for religious reasons. They believe that it is a gift of their Gurus. It is worn as a sign of commitment to their own  higher conssciousness.

Of note: Hindu men are not required to wear a turban, it is optional. It is the Sikh men who are required to wear it. Sikhism is a different religion than Hindu.

As for the do rags.. not sure, but here where I live white guys wear them too and biker guys wear them. I wear one when I go to the beach or am going to be out in the sun to protect my scalp from sunburn. yup, I am one of those milky white, freckled redheads whose scalp will burn just as easily as my other skin.

                     mbmbn

I am a black woman that has had a sunbuned scalp.  Caution, don't ever go camping with cornrows and no hat....That hurt for a week.

As for the do rags.....there are a few different reasons for that.

1. It is to train the hair to lay in a certain pattern or direction

2. It is to protect the scalp from sunburn

3. It is a fashion statement

I am sure there are more that I am not aware of...but that gives you something to go on.

My first real crush was a tall red head with green eyes (I was 10 years old and he was my brothers best friend...they were 12).  I have loved men with red hair ever since.  Damn he was beautiful....:::feeling all flushed now::::

From post 28....
The man had a telephoto lens set on "macro-zoom" and focused on one nipple at a time for at least 50 pictures. He was incredible and I hope he is enjoying his collection. I think I answered his question by saying that I kept beth in a box similar to how veal is raised. But he was so focused he just kept drooling and taking pictures and I doubt he heard the answer.

Living in Montana i don't have the chance to meet and talk with any other race.  i am open to all as long as they are honest people. i don't really have any questions for anyone, after all we are all pink on the inside...i am Italian by background and i know i don't the pretty pink nipples and stuff like my very white girlfriends have...but i am still me...dang it all....giggles

Isn't it amazing that there are still areas like you live in?

As curious as we are about each other... we are afraid to ask the simple questions.

70 miles south of me is an air force base...i guess i could go there and see different people...but i think i would get in trouble if i sat at the gate and watched everyone...they might think i was up to something. i asked one of my friends what they thought about montana being 97+% white and she told me i needed to go visit other areas of the country, my goal is to go to other countries...i got my passport and i am leaving for south america next month...i didn't know i had to get a bunch of shoots just to leave the country...this is going to be very interesting for me i think.
i am wondering if people in other countries have to get a bunch of shoots just to come to america?

For starters how about this thread:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_838951/mpage_1/key_redhead/tm.htm

or this one:

Ever heard the term “redheaded step-child” used in a positive association? “Ill beat you like a redheaded stepchild”. This phrase was born out of the American south and implies the status of illegitimate offspring with a white master.

One of our favorite shows, South Park, included in their episode about “Gingers” the stereotypes that red-headed kids are just plain weird and “without souls”.

At St. Paul’s cathedral in London, figurines tell the story of the fall in the Garden of Eden. Adam points one hand to the forbidden fruit and the other to a golden haired Eve. Then the arch angel drives them from the garden. Adam with his fig leaf loops his arm around Eve who is now cowering and sporting a main of long red hair.

Similarly in the paintings of the Sistine Chapel in 1874, Michelangelo’s Temptation depicts a brown haired Eve being handed a red apple by a red headed bare breasted serpent woman (Satan manifested as woman of course carries red hair). In the adjacent fresco Eve is thrown out of the garden with a shameful face and a twist of red hair.

Eves’ red hair is seen as the stain of sin like the original scarlet letter. Later her son, Cain, will bare the red hair and also a fall from grace.

Belief that redheads are witches is a folk belief in Germanic culture. From 1483-1784 thousands of suspected witches were nearly always stripped and searched for “marks of the devil”. These included any “abnormality” such as freckles, moles, warts, and birthmarks. Red hair was certainly considered an abnormality. Considering the freckle factor for redheads this was a deadly and shocking horror. Somewhere around 45,000 women were tortured and murdered usually by burning at the stake or by drowning.

In central Africa’s Cameroon redheaded albinos, called Nguenguerous, are believed also to come by this color by menstrual intercourse. The UN and other world organizations have studied and advocated for their rights as there have been allegations of the ritual murders in some regions of Africa.

Personally, this slave has met people who ranged from wanting to have nothing to do with her and made no bones about telling her about it, BASED on her hair color and the belief of negative stereotypes associated with it to folks who just wanted to get down her pants to see if it was “true what they say about redheads, y’know, red-on-the-head-fire-in-the-hole” to folks with a redhead fetish, which all qualifies as prejudice, to this slave.

edited to add:  Judas is always depicted as a redhead, adding "untrustworthy" to the list of stereotypes passed around about redheads.

wow, thanks for the education...i really do like learning something new everyday....

the only thing i ever heard about "red heads" is that they are firey in bed....
with auburn hair that really goes red in the sun and olive slin i tan very well...giggles but i don't think i ever heard the beat you like a red headed step child is because i was the red headed step child...lmao

LotusSong -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 8:46:02 AM)

Now, here is another thing I heard as a kid from my brother who was into sports.

(Hang on to your hats here, I think this one is right up, there with all black men have big peni)

The statement was "Black people are better in running sports because their bodies have extra ankle muscles".

Honest to God.

(edited because my typing sucks)

LadyEllen -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 8:49:05 AM)

Sure I remember reading/hearing somewhere that there is some physiological difference in bones and muscle attachments that might explain the success of black athletes, particularly in sprint events.

Or it could be that they just train and try harder.

To add something stated (of no particular race in general).. that if the second toe of your foot is longer than your first (big) toe- you are a dominant personality.

Mine are even...my slave's is longer than his first toe.  Go figure.

farglebargle -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 8:55:33 AM)

Just to chime up with some pointless information.

There is no scientific concept of "Race" to physical anthropologists.

LotusSong -> RE: Let's talk about Race (4/4/2007 9:04:22 AM)

If  I could have chosen my race (metaphysics side of the belief that we do chose this all before our incarnations)- I would have chosen to be Asian- (Japanese specifically because I like the discipline of their culture).  This hulky Hungarian/German body of mine is a pain in the ass.

In my next life I'm going to be probably Amerasian - because I want to keep my green eyes.  But I want to be petite.  I want the thick, straight blue-black hair and small feet for a change.  I love the almond-shaped eyes.
