Guys, you may not want to read this, lol.
A "friend" was having endometriosis for about a year and decided to have the operation. The gyno/surgeon was given the authority to take "her" ovaries depending on how they looked during the operation. So they were removed.
About a month later (after being on pain meds) she started getting headaches. Over the last 8 months (yes 8 months) she has been to numerous doctors, nuerologists, tried every known migraine medicine they suggest for this. Classic symptoms dont dictate a migraine (not bothered by light, sound etc). Headaches are constant and do elevate and decline but the "core" headache is always there. Had a Catscan and MRI with contrast and everything is clear. Sinus area as well. Was on the hormone patch, they raised and lowered the level trying to see if an adjustment would resolve the headache problem. Also the oral hormone. Now off everything on the advice of doctor. The only relief is narcotics.
Anyone ever hear of this/ Any ideas or suggestions? Has anyone tried the hormone cream? Results, good or bad? Does something like this "go away" after a year or so. Is this a lifetime sentence to horrible almost debilitating pain?
Oh, nothing showed up on the MRI from the spinal tap either.
In retrospect, beng miserable 5 says out of the month was FAR better than being miserable daily for almost 3/4w of a year with no soultion in site. All doctors and specialists are stumped, with the exception of trying biofeedback, hormone creams, or any other legit form of alternative treatments. Anyone?
P.S. I know its not scene related. But I am at my wits end.

My best advise for this situation is to try various therapies envolving massage, accupunture, yoga and some herbals. I recomend green tea, more water, and to go fishing more often.

I would continue to try reciveing estrogen suppliments, migrain medication as needed, and to look at other factors in her environment that may be causing these headaches.

On a last thought I'd have a scan done to see about possible nerves being damaged during the histyrectamy. This unfortunatly happens from time to time causing a lack of sexual appetite along with other effects that go straight to the brain and hypothalmis area.

I am extremely sympathetic to your friends plight, I was in a similar circumstance myself. I am only now gettting over chronic headaches caused by an illness back in Oct 2003. I had migraines for 5 months solid & then chronic headaches up to 5 days a week. Over time it did get better (eventually), I was advised by an herbalist to take Magnesium, it has been found to help relieve headaches, this was also verified by 3 of my therapists at the time. Also hot compresses on my neck & forehead have helped, aromatherapy has also aided some. As was stated earlier alternative therapies may work better than narcotics. Besides which I know that I get headaches from being on painkillers, it's one of the sideaffects of them. I was just recently on morphine for 8 days & had a headache the entire time, but I was so drugged up I didn't care. I hope your friend finds relief, but she needs to keep trying & pestering the Drs. to get her the help she needs.
