I have discovered that the lube that I have been using is causing me pain. It burns and stings alot!

Does anyone have a suggestion on good safe lube to use? I would like to enjoy sex again.

I have super super sensitive skin and I've found the Platinum WET really fantastic and can be used even in the shower. First time we tried it in there my partner slipped in my ass so easily he thought it was my pussy!

Try to find some that is sterile,I believe the drugstores will carry it.
I use the kind the hospital does.I havent had a problem since.

I also often react to lubes and particularly spermacides, and had someone recommend Pjur/Eros which so far hasn't caused any bad reactions for me. Need to try some of the other formulations of it tho, the Bodyglide I bought I find too thin for my preference. I'm sure there are others that would work too, I really haven't experimented much with lubes.

I had that problem too...I switched to a silicon-based lube - no glycerine - with unlubricated condoms and poof, problem gone!

what sort of lube have you been using? what is the base ingredient? that will help you find the right lube for you.

i discovered, after much discomfort and trial and error, that i cannot use any water-based lubricant. they all irritate me badly, causing burning, even rashes in some cases. however silicone based works wonders for me. it's nice and slick, long-lasting, without the irritation.

I was using a generic storebrand stuff. I found some hypoallergenic lube and will be trying it out. Thank you for your suggestions.

Perhaps try one with very little ingrediants, and what are therre, are easy to understand. And do not get lubes with nonoxonal 9, and try to avoid ones with sugars.

Try just pure olive or avocado oil. A bit messy, but so what?

I have sensitive skin as well and I have found that Eros Bodyglide which is a silicone based lube is great for me. (sold under the name Eros and Pjur) Its allergy tested, fat free, oil free, water free, fragrance free, non pore blocking, no preservatives, latex save, safe for daily use. The only thing that it can't be used on is silicone toys.

What kind are you using now? And what are you using now?

I'd recommend NEVER using an oil based lube for sex.

"Oil-based lubes are no longer recommended as a form of lubrication for safer sex. The oil can leave a coating on the rectum or vagina that can lead to bacterial or other infections. Oil-based lubes can also break down latex condoms, dams, gloves, other latex safer-sex products, diaphragms, and cervical caps, thus reducing their effectiveness. This is important to consider if you apply oil-based lubes to latex condoms on sex toys or toys that are made of latex."

True about the breakdown of latex (although most of the studies look at petroleum or petrolatum, not vegetable oils) - but the OP is the same poster who elsewhere stated she wasn't using any form of birth control, so I would assume (hope?) she is in a clean, monogamous relationship. As far as a coating - well, um, I haven't had any issues with it, and since I break out from most anything else, I figure a slight greasiness is better than torn tender tissues!

But yes, caveat noted for anyone who is using any sort of barrier method.

Silicone lubes ARE safe to use, they are condom compatible. The wiki quoted above is referring to vaseline, etc.
I find that different people have different reactions to lubes. My advice would be to pick the one with the least ingredients and stay away from drugstore cheapy lubes!
Find a quality sex toy store like GoodVibes and try different lubes out on your skin to see what feels right for you!

I like O'My Natural & Pleasureglide personally.

Sensu Organics is an awesome choice if you're looking for a short ingredient list and a low likelihood to cause reactions. The only thing to note is that if you're trying to get pregnant, grapefruit seed extract is sometimes known to kill spermies!

Its ingredient list is: Sepia 6c HPUS, Thuja 6c HPUS, certified organic grapefruit seed extract. Inactive Ingredients: certified organic aloe vera, certified deionized water, tocopherol (vitamin E), wild-crafted certified pesticide-free guar gum.

thank you all for your suggestions. yes, I am in a monogamous relationship w/ my master/husband. No I am not using any birth control b/c the pill makes me sick and the nuvo-ring tore my puss to shreds and gave me no sex drive at all. Plus we are trying for baby # 3... :)

I have purchased a hypoallergenic lube from prissy's, so as soon as my Master returns from a business trip, I will try it out and let you guys know if it worked.

i loooove shea butter, sweet almond oil and/or alcohol and scent free lotion (i make my own so i know what's in it!) they last a very long time, no glycerine and no sugars! also no perfumes to irritate me either. i've always been super sensitive to lubes and have found that natural oils and my body love each other.
*again, not for condoms! and, these items really should be used only if you clean up really well afterwards, as you should anyway. for my own self, because as i said i'm quite easily irritated i always make sure to pee within 15 minutes of finishing then i rinse the perianal area with a squirt bottle of plain warm water and dry very very well. if i can't do that i at the very minimum use a wet toilet wipe and dry very well and as soon as possible shower or bathe and only use baby soap on my nether regions if i use soap at all...soap can be harsh on your genitals and is only essential when you're very soiled or have foreign fluids present, otherwise most women's bodies are made to self cleanse, though we're generally taught we're dirty and need to practically sandblast that area clean...also use care during your period when an over abundance of fluids can leave you already irritated!*

I like coconut oil best, if you are not using latex condoms of course. Never has caused irritation or infection. I am extremely sensitive and cannnot use many lubes.

J-Lube. very slick, inexpensive, safe for use on animals, in animals, etc.
