It could be tougher laws on hate crime (it really doesn't cover sexual preference),

That should come from any gender president regardless

Yes, it should..but chances are it won't.

or rights to adopt,

The right to adopt is already present to My knowledge..the gay groups have used the Easter Egg Roll at the White House as a political agenda

Well, ask pretty much any gay person in Florida how easy it is to adopt, even kids with AIDS that no one else wants.

to not lose their jobs,

that would be discrimination

There are tons of places that don't have that in their work policies.  There is race, gender, religion, creed, but most do not have sexual orientation included..so they can do what they want.

perhaps marriage, or partner rights in case of death or being in the hospital...there are a number of things that "straight" people take for granted and don't realize that others don't have.

Wasn't aware of most of that...

Most people aren't, that's the problem.

How about making it so gay people can be in the military and not have to worry about being kicked out?

Agreed...I alread mentioned that earlier

Do you agree so they will be killed, or because they have as much of a right to fight for their country as anyone else?

Since when did sexuality have anything to do with a persons capability of doing a  job?
Gay or straight if they can do a better job than the president you already have - i say go for it!

I second that.  I couldn't care less about a candidates sexuality.  Put a good gay candidate out there and I'll vote for them.

See many misread My posting and think I am anti gay...that is their problem.

Still a person can be influenced by sexuality, race, gender in making decisions especially when it comes to special interest groups.

The United States is not ready for a homosexual black woman President .

Thank you for your posting.

I dont think you are anti-gay.  I do think you are projecting your beliefs onto the rest of America, many of which may not agree with you. America may not be ready to change everything with one candidate yet and have a Black Lesbian in office, that might be a wee bit too radical.  However, thats an extreme. However if a gay man were to run who stood on good platforms, and didnt find it necessary to announce to the public in general that he was gay he might be better than his opponent for the job. You would rather go with smeone who was a weaker candidate and had less to offer the country just becasue he was straight? I feel the same about anyone who runs. I am not interested in the special interest groups they have behind them since the oil companies and whatnot throw around a lot more money to influence the candidate they decide to back and buy a blind eye to things far more than any gay rights organization ever well. I want soeone in office who will serve the countries interests.  Right now, I dont feel like the current president is doingthat, and if it takes a gay man to get us back on track, I'll be the first in the voting booths.  If it takes a woman to get us back on track, same thing.  Black, white, green, orange... I dont care.  Get the contry back where it is, and whatever else you have in the background as your personal life can stay that way.

My opinion of course

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Do you feel that a gay person should be the President of The United States? I do not It goes aga (4/12/2007 6:22:45 AM)

yet you're willing to vote for a woman - so that really goes against your principle thinking of what the Founding Fathers originally written.  you certainly have a way using the double standard for your political thinking. in one hand you claim this country isn't ready for a bi/gay/black/woman president (because you have yet to show any justified reason why based on the US Constitution) and in the other hand, by your own admission you have and will vote for a woman.  it shouldn't matter what race, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, etc our president is as long as he/she's does the job they're elected to do.

what if (for hypothectical purposes) Hillary does win the presidency, are you going to pack up and move to a more male-dominant type of country who believe a woman's place is in the house but not the White House or are you going to accept her as the leader and commander in chief of this nation?

Ok other than not being anti gay why do you think america isnt ready for a gay president? Also how do you know you have not already had one?

Marc2b -> RE: Do you feel that a gay person should be the President of The United States? I do not It goes aga (4/12/2007 6:55:25 AM)

I’m not going to give myself eye strain reading seven pages of posts but I would like to chime in with a couple of things.

First, I absolutely support the idea of a gay president. The Oval Office is in need of a make over and when done it will be absolutely fabulous. Also – spiffy new uniforms for the military (and the Village People will be doing USO tours). Foreign policy may suffer though. I don’t think telling other countries to "oh, behaaaaaaaave," will cut it.

Just kidding around folks. I don’t care who the President fucks in their bedroom, my concern is whether their policies will fuck all of us.

Lady Ellen said:

just a thought, what with all the repression and marriages for the sake of appearances over the last few centuries, its quite possible that the US, (and UK et al) has already had a gay president, but just didnt know it.

Quite true. We have, for all intents and purposes, already had a female President (and I don’t mean Hillary). Wilson had a stroke in his second term and for the remainder of his term his wife Edith was really running things. It was a kind of open secret within the government.

I do not.

It goes against everything the Unted States and the Founding Fathers established and outlined in their writings.

Master Ross

petdave asked about the above and this girl would appreciate for you to elaborate on it.  This girl doesn't understand how electing someone who is gay would harm the above.

Sounds like the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century to me when you comment on the lack of values. During that period values were worth very little to the comman man it was a case of survival.
Example 1, shot for cutting in front of you...how about getting hung for being the wrong color or in the wrong place.
Example 2, gangesters...how about Jessie James or the Dalton brothers?
Example 3, Teachers back then were paid in a place to live, food and a small amount of money.
Example 3, What floozy?
Example 4, Sex has always sold thru out the ages and it was mostly men who controled it and besides what is the turth?
Is the truth what you say? What I say? What god says? Whos god? Yours, mine? What a nation says?  What the radical Islamics say? What is the truth? And what is the norm?

slavegyrl -> RE: Do you feel that a gay person should be the President of The United States? I do not It goes aga (4/12/2007 10:21:44 PM)

Why not? This president is a lier, a murder, a theif and a trator to his friends and the country. So what's wrong with a lesbian black woman President?

I'm not sure I get what you are talking about.  This country was based on Judeo-Christian values and it says so in the opening line of the constitution.  That our tolerance changes does not mean that our values do.  This country was founded on the belief that God inured man with certain inalienable rights, rights that we hold to be self evident.

On the issue of whether a gay man should be President, I'm sure he could really decorate the White House well and he'd look very smart in his clothes.  Ok...all kidding aside, 90% of Jerseyans did not know that Gov. Jim McGreevey was gay.  If we wasn't such a corrupt piece of shit in that used his political office to satisfy his sexual predelictions (like Clinton), we probably NEVER would have known.  How do we know that we haven't already had a President that was secretly gay or bi?

While that may be true the United States does not have the mindset to move past it.

Just seeing what happened with Imus and the results that exploded with poeple that had too much time on thier hands and bussiness afraid of allienating thier advertisers and listener consumers.

It is all about money..and how to use it for levage.

Most people would have accepted the appology and moved on instead washed up Sharpton and Jackson used it to jump start thier failing credibility and political careers.

Sad..very sad.

The President is neither a liar, nor a traitor, nor a theif nor a murderer.  We are embroiled in global conflict against a non-traditional enemy that does not have geo-political boundaries.  More than 3,000 people at the World Trade Center would tell you the same thing if they weren't dead.  We are fighting an enemy that is often loosely configured and at war with their own factions but are able to unite enough to do a great deal of harm to this country.  And you are going to see more of it, hon, right here on your home turf. You want to castigate your President?  Fine, but the next President is going to deal with a larger problem than Bush has.  The next President will deal with a nuclear armed N. Korea and a nuclear armed Iran and then I want to hear what you say about him.  Your darkest days are yet to come.

There is a revival of lack of values now along with the decade of corruption.

Historians are going too have a field day with this time.

Example 1, shot for cutting in front of you...how about getting hung for being the wrong color or in the wrong place.

Two differnet mindsets totally.

Again some guy this morning was foaming at the mouth as he cussed Me out cutting across solid lines.

Mindset that life is valueless and that what he needed to do to save a few moments could of potentially changed the life of another.

Example 2, gangesters...how about Jessie James or the Dalton brothers?

Glorification of activities that are not acceptable mainstream society today.

Seems they should clean house of people that use terminology and abuse of thier own before going after others.

Sort of like calling the kettle black.

Example 3, Teachers back then were paid in a place to live, food and a small amount of money.

The old west has nothing to do with what I was saying...
