Does anyone know of a source for female slave tunics of Roman, Greek, or Gor design. Looking for something in this fashion:  sleeveless, length few inches below pubic area, has a deep plunging neckline, shoulder straps, clips or ties that can be released quickly, allowing garment to slip off.   Thanks for you help.

I'd do some searches on google but if you have a specific design in mind, I would suggest going to a local seamstress and outlining what you want.  The cost of material would likely not be much and you could probably get someone who was skilled to whip that up in no time.

Has got a few to choose from.  They're are probably not exactly what your looking for, but any tailor could modify pretty easily to get to the exact requirements.  Look in the international subsection under costumes

I'd love some for men but then again, a tunic is pretty much a tunic regardless of the sex of the person wearing it.

It's a simple pattern from your description, and could be knocked out real quick. Get some costume brooches for clips at the shoulder, or even just modify some hair ornaments. You can damn near just cut down a large pillowcase, if you're willing to butcher a few for experimentation's sake, and do it yourself. Go online and learn how to sew a seam, then get a basic clothing repair kit. You really won't need much more. Tunics are easy. If you want to accent the subject's curves, add a belt to the ensemble - it would be traditional for a roman slave, any way (rather than the familiar collar - the name of the owner and their address should be marked on the belt for identification purposes). Go to a fabric store. Muslin is cheap, and you only need a few yards. Once you've got the basics down, make it out of some better quality cloth. Cotton is pretty much ideal, and cheap enough you won't cry if it gets ruined.

To purchase, perhaps something like this:
http://www.costumesinc.com/f26/roman_togas_cleopatra_wigs_and_asp_jewelry.html

To sew, perhaps these patterns;

For other costume patterns, go to a fabric store and look through the costume section of the pattern books.

Greetings Wiplash,
Easy, peasy to do what you wish.
Did you see the movie '300'?  Remember the oh-so-ethereal red-headed slave girl and her diaphanous "tunic"?  Instead of a clasp on the shoulder, two short ties wrapped together in a quick release knot should look just right.
..
Further, if you made it into two separate pieces, only just barely sewing together the edges that meet under the arm, you would get a very nice slit up both sides.  I can't promise you plunging decolletage though, that would probably need to be 4 separate pieces confined with a belt or judicious use of selvage on all edges that will hang so you do not get creep/stretching of the fibers....of course, if you use a polyester or a finely woven silk, that might not be a problem, but you would still have to finish the edges with a seam or rolled edge which is a PITA.....not a good thing. :)  Luck!  p.s. Use $1 p/yd Walmart fabric, they have a LOT of sheer stuff and it will drape more beautifully than pretty much anything else you can get cheap anywhere else.  Just don't plan on dying it, no doubt it will be made of polyester and polyester just don't dye. :)

google for "hollywood costumes " they're fairly cheap and have had some neat links. sarongs pop up in lots of stores selling swim-wear, these fashion great tunics, skirts, shirts, dresses, and so on, even pants for those with narrow hips. sheer material, if you opt to sew, is acctractive for what is covered is still seen /and/ most of fabric like that is scratchy if not down right abraisive to the wearer.just some thoughts, hope they help-        Phoenix

Here is another approach, that doesn't require much sewing - though that, or sewing glue will help. Happens this is something of a kink of mine, so I came prepared. :P

Old Punk's Rude Gear : Slave Gear : The Modest Slavegirl : The Modest Slavegirl Women's Tank Top

Buy it two or three sizes too large for the slave. Now, cut and hem the straps, and stitch on velcro spots. Cinch with a belt or pin on one hip. Hem to desired length.

However, my preference for workaday slave garb is the social equivilant to a greek tunic - which is sweats.

Old Punk's Rude Gear : Punks in Love : Owned : Owned Women's Tracksuit

Removal is trivial, and the zip permits as much cleavage as anyone could want.

If you do want them to have more options - or you want to have more options for their delicious humility - have her wear this underneath.

Or better yet,

I do clothing and tags with "slave register" barcodes as a service to the community - no charge for the graphics involved, it's just the price of the clothing, so if anyone would like anything from a collar tag to a shirt, let me know.
