I have a tattoo that I want to cover, or get rid of totally. I know that it costs a lot to have it lasered, so that is pretty much out of the question.

I would like something to cover it up, make-up...or maybe something that might help get rid of it otherwise.

Yes, I know that you have to live with one once you get it, and yes, it was very thought out. The reason I got it would mean more had it not been based on a bunch of lies. I just want to move on with my life, but this thing is always there.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is something called Wrecking Ball. I'm not sure how great it works, but they advertise on the radio all the time. I think it's a cream and it fades the tattoo without pain or discomfort. I hope this helps.

Wrecking Balm is a waste of money. It's just the same 1% hydroquinone solution that over the counter lightening creams contain, but at an astronomical markup.

There are exactly 4 ways you can get rid of a tattoo you don't like:

1) cover it with a different tattoo (if the present tattoo allows for it)
2) laser tattoo removal
3) skin excision and grafting, but that would leave a big nasty scar
4) full-thickness dermabrasion, i.e. a belt sander

If you're just looking to cover it temporarily, there are a couple of products you can use. Dermablend and Kryolan's DermaColor are used by theatrical make-up artists for covering scars, tattoos and skin pigment discolorations like rosacea. They both work very well but they're not inexpensive, especially if you're going to use them long-term. At that point, you're better off putting the money towards one of the above options.

SB - keep it as a reminder to warn yourself off similar situations in future, seeing it as the sort of scar one might get from doing something daft that one will never do again?

But I think thats passed for you. There is a make up used by burns victims and similar that might work for you - the TVs on here will probably be able to give you the brand name where you live, as they use it to cover beard shadow. Depending on where the tattoo is, and getting the right shade and it not rubbing off if its under clothes, it should cover it completely and without much trace. There's a brand called Miracle Cover or something here in the UK, sold by CD shops, but its the same stuff - you might be able to get it from a drugstore/pharmacy maybe?

For temporary use try Dermablend (oil-based), Dermacolor (water-based), Cinema Secrets, Cover FX would all work well, If Cinema Secrets will cover the male beard area, it will cover a tattoo. Dermablend was originally designed for covering port wine birth marks, burns, etc. and would easily cover a tattoo.

Long-term...laser might be the best bet, depending on the colors. It isn't cheap, but a number of treatments, which will be needed anyway, spread over a longish period might be affordable.

their is a product called Gak , It can be found in any stripper shop , its 10bucks a bottle , its a cover up/plastic it will hide anything , as it has hidden my tattoo's from my grandparents

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will check into the different kinds of make-up and see if I can find something to work.
