ROFLMAO....oh my. (wipes tears)  My only thoughts on this are as follows.  If you marry a woman and she is good to you and bears your children and you still love her, etc. then you should have her nipped and tucked to her heart's content, if that is what she wants.  If not then go find a you.....ummmmm.....whatever.

Ok, I'm gonna say something now that probably is going to offend alot of people but here goes. Some overweight people are overweight because of health issues. I, myself was 30 kg overweight because of a drug that I had to take so I'm not unfamiliar with it. Some people can't control their weight because of reasons like that and I in no means am trying to put people down because of it.

But, nevertheless, the truth is that the great majority of overweight people aren't overweight because of some underlying disease nor drug intake, they are overweight because they eat high calorie foods and don't exercise to match the intake. That is not a disease nor a medical condition, It's bad eating habits and an less than perfect healthy lifestyle. And sorry to say, I really don't have much sympathies towards people who are wasty overweight, blame it on metabolism or some non existant disease just to relieve them selves from taking responsibility of their eating and less than adequate excersize habits. I don't know how many people I've met that blame their excess fat on diseases and/or circumstances  while gobbling down a large pizza and fries for every meal.

With that being said. I'm no hottie myself and I do indulge sometimes in fast foods and bakery stuffs. I've been told before that I wasn't desireable because of my spare tire. So be it. I personally don't like greatly overweight men either and I completely understand that people have certain standards for what they find physically attractive. But the beauty of life is that there's always someone out there who prefer curvy women to skinny ones. And why bother sulking about those who you clearly don't fit with and concentrate on being sexy in your own body. Because it doesn't matter if you are skinny , plump or overly so, If you don't feel sexy and comfortable with yourself then you'll never be able to make others see you as sexy either.

I think that we all who struggle with weight issues can all feel blessed that we don't have a system like some of my celtic proginators: very concerned about personal beauty, each village had a belt, if you were too big to fasten it about your waist, then you paid a penalty tax to the head man of the village. Of course, with BMI measurements of students being required in public schools, we, soon, just might have to do a weigh in when we go to pay property taxes! Hooray for big government.

There are those who can't lose weight for one reason or another, but as many that claim that, who just can't be bothered to try.  The first group have my understanding, the second (and usually the more vocal) deserve no sympathy.

I have to agree completely! I had a Dom who wanted me to lose weight. I generally am about 140, at 5'4 I didn't think I was overweight. I lost 20 pounds and thought I was too skinny. I am back to 140ish now and think I look better.

On the other hand, I know people whose only excersise is to complain about how big they are.

That's a nice thought. In reality, it doesn't matter to most men why a woman is overweight. It doesn't matter if she can't do anything about it. If she's not skinny, he's not interested.

So what are the "fat chicks" supposed to do when they can't do anything about their size without ugly scarring? How are we supposed to be "in"?

I have to ask: What if you would have had your children by caesarean section? You'd have had that scar, anyway. You seem to have a real issue with this and you've already stated that you've "given up". Why not go ahead, get the excess skin removed and worry about the scar (cocoa butter) when you have to? This way, you can wear what you wish and by the time someone gets to know you, your scar won't be such a big deal to them.

And to add to that, he's not interested in any of her other qualities, either!    In fact, I've known guys who will accept just about anything if she looks good hanging on his arm.  She can charge up his credit cards, cheat on him, and treat him like dirt.  But when you ask these guys who are complaining about how bad she treated him, "so why did you stay with her?", the answer is always, "Because she was absolutely gorgeous!"

I browse around several vanilla dating sites.  I see a lot of ads from guys who don't take the time to list much of anything under "Type of woman you're looking for".  No preferences for hair or eye color, marital status, family situation, hobbies and interests, job, income, nothing.  But every time, they'll be sure to put "slim/slender" in the body type preferences.

Viridana, correct. I just got in from an hour long bike ride and I saw six other people riding bikes and walking and not one of them was overweight.

I've been seeing alot of threads lately related to weight issues. I want to let men out there know just how cold and heartless it is for them to turn women down because of their weight. Some of us can't help what our bodies look like. Many have health issues and others like me have permanently disfigured bodies to to pregnancy. It's easy for men to say plenty of women have babies and don't gain weight. Maybe they just got lucky. My body was disfigured because too much amniotic fluid surrounded the baby. It had nothing to do with how much I ate or exercised during the pregnancy. When this happens a woman's skin is horribly stretched. After the pregnancy, it doesn't go away. It stays there and sags. No amount of dieting or exercise will make the sagging skin disappear. There is no way a tummy tuck can be done without leaving a long horrible scar. Men don't have to worry about this happening to them, so it's really easy for them to say there is no excuse for women to be overweight. These are the type of men who cheat on and/or divorce their mates because they only desire women who have perfect bodies. Yet many of these same men would call a woman a murderer if she ever had an abortion. I'm not saying all men are this way. I'm talking to the men who are. Stop putting women down because of their weight.

While I don't consider it cold or heartless to turn down a woman for a date if she's twice my weight, I wouldn't consider it cold and heartless for a woman in reasonable physical condition to turn down a man for a date if he's twice her weight.  It goes both ways.  However, if a woman has had children, well...I hope I'm not assuming anything incorrectly, but...that's an enormous tax on the human body, and one of the most amazing things of which it's capable.  If I were a woman who'd had children, and a man said something to me, I'd ask him how many kids he's had.  How many times he's been through all that.  Just my $0.02.

For me, the most important issue about health/fitness/size/et al.; is can someone I wish to be with be able to participate in the things I wish. I am not talking about trapezes and trampolines. I am talking about motorcycles, kayaaking, hiking, extended walking  in museums and sightseeing. I am on my feet for 12 hours a day at work and I would wish my partner to have similar capacity. No one is perfect. No one can meet expectations perfectly 100% of the time. What a dominant expects should be of attentiveness, behavior and performance. He should not expect from someone else( height /weight proportion and/or self control) what he cannot perform himself. Oh, but that's a heretical statment isn't it? Wanting is one thing; getting is another thing entirely. I suggest for many to drop the strict Christmas list approach, and embrace a more realistic understanding of those who wish to serve and seeing the person within the person. Fantasy has to meet reality at some point.

How interesting- When I was young we had waistline parties(house)- You had to pay ten cents for each inch you were around. Always wondered who thought that up.

I don't think it's realistic to expect a man to change his views on what is physically attractive. However, it would be good to know that beforehand: "Love you hon, but if you ever step on that scale and the number on the readout is higher than 150...you gotta go." Everyone has preferences. There's no need to be rude about it, but it's rare that the physical form has no bearing on how attractive others find us.

Most men should understand that pregnancy and childbirth can exact a toll on a woman's body. But most men are also very visual. It's not impossible to find someone who will overlook the extra skin; it may just take a little time.

I don't know if you could afford this, but you need to discuss scar minimization with your doctor, as someone has previously mentioned.

I have several very ugly cigarette burn scars ranging from ten to fifteen years old. I've has plastic surgery on some, and will eventually have them all repaired. I've even learned how to use high protection sunscreen put carefully over these areas, so keep them from turning red when I tan. When I keep up a good tan, you can't even see the ones that have been fixed.

This may be of use to you.

then again, i live on a college campus with 30,000+ students, so i see at least a fraction of us fat people walking around pretty regularly.

Small scars are much easier to remove.  Tatooing the scar with my exact skin color might work if only I could handle the repeated needle sticks. Knocking me out wouldn't be an option......yikes.
