Progressive lenses are a no line tri-focal. You want to make sure that the optician has correctly adjusted them to fit you perfectly so that they do not slide down your nose, and that when you're looking straight ahead, you're seeing out of your distance area. Point your nose at what ever it is you're wanting to look at, the sides will be nothing but a blurr if you turn only your eyes. When you look down, you should be able to see perfectly out of your reading area. When looking at a computer, you will have to tilt your head up slightly. While going down stairs, never look down and make sure you're holding onto the railing. Generally, it takes up to 2-3 weeks to adjust to progressives. If during that time, you're still having difficulty adjusting to them, it may need a bit more adjusting, ie, adding a wrap or tilt to it, or you may be a progressive non-adapt, in which case, regular bi-focals would be required. It also helps to wear the glasses as much as possible and never switch back and forth between different types of glasses.
