I simply don't want to spend the money that is required for Photoshop. I am pretty certain it is the best, but it certainly is expensive. Are there any cheaper alternatives but still pretty darn good programs?

Also, any of you have some good web page creating software? Any opinions on what is good?

Is there an inexpensive XML parser?

You can download free versions from Cnet.downloads an stuff but the free version is never as good as the real one.

You could try gimp as a photoshop replacement

An xml parser

when you say webpage creating software, you mean something like dreamweaver ?

I hear a lot of good stuff about Mambo which is more of a content management system, but is pretty handy.

I second the GIMP recommendation. GIMP is good.
