Status: offline 		i need to heal razor bumps asap for a pending scene, can anyone pls make a suggestion that will RAPIDLY heal them instead of prevent them or the razor burn in other thread?
will alcohol heal them and if so, how often do you apply?
(if this should've stayed in the other thread, pls move)

Status: offline 		The bumps are caused when the hairs are shaved to a level below the surface of the skin. Then the hair has to push through a thin layer as they continue to grow. You might recall some of the razor commercials that said the first blade would lift and pull the hair up while the second blade cut it off. This is find an a mans face as the pores are more open and the hair tends to grow straight out from the skin. That is why it was recommended that one shave with the grain of the hair around the pubic region. It doesn't produce the perfectly clean look we desire but does remain comfortable. I would suggest a moisturizing lotion to keep the skin soft and a daily washing with a soft cloth to abrade away the surface skin might help speed the process of fading bumps minimally. In any event the sharp edges of the hair will cut through as they grow causing the bumps to fade and the stubble to begin.

Status: offline 		This may sound a bit strange, but I tried Visine once to get rid of the redness and swelling and it worked rather well. However, I also did it immediately after the bumps started rising, so I don't know how well this will work for you.

Status: offline 		Apply pure honey to the site. It heals within 24 hours and is also very soothing.
To avoid this in the future, use an alcohol based body spray from Victoria's Secret and apply immediately after shaving. This prevents the bumps from occurring.

Status: offline 		i don't have a suggestion for the healing of the razor bumps but i do suggest some kind of permanent hair remover such as lasering or electrolysis. It is a bit expensive, but if you add up the cost of all the products you need to keep that area nice it kind of works out. i recently purchased a machine to do it at home. With all of the materials i needed, it cost about $500 dollar, but i already have gotten great results and should be pretty much bare for good in about 6 more weeks or so. Of course i will keep the machine just in case there is any thing new popping up.

Another shaving note that I recently read and proved helpful: They say to make sure the area is not only well moisturized, but to make sure the hair is as short as possible ( even if you have to use scissors ), and to both soak the skin in warm water ( causing the folicles to soften and remove easier), and also keep the shaving cream on for a lil while to give extre moisturizing before you shave. I noticed following that advice let to much less aggrivation when i shave the top of my pudge! lol Oh... and also make sure you only stroke 1-2 times. If it doesn't get rid of all the hair the first few times it's ok. The more you shave at once, the more irritated you could become and always go with the way the hair grows, not against!!

P.S. The visine trick works on lessoning the red in pimples on your face, so I'd definitely try that! kudos to that suggestion :)

I've personally had a lot of luck with zinc oxide...yes, the same cream that you would put on a baby's behind for diaper rash. I'm allergic to depilatories so shaving seems to work best for me - but I hate those bumps!

I also use Visine on my zits so I would give that a try also.

Status: offline 		DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!!!

The way that alcohol disinfects wounds is it disrupts the membrane of cells- it kills bacteria- but it ALSO kills all OTHER cells- including your body.

Alcohol will keep it from getting infected, but that is not a real problem- and it will make the razor bumps more irritated.

It helps you not get razor bumps in the first place. Soaking in a hot bath first, before shaving, will help as well.

At-Home Razor-Bump Remedy
This toner recipe from Paula Begoun, author of Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me, soothes and heals razor bumps on the face, bikini area, and body. Since the ingredients will not stay stable for long, mix a fresh batch every time.

Ingredients:
3 drops glycerin (available at any drugstore)
1/4 cup water
2 aspirin

1. Mix ingredients in a bowl until aspirin dissolves.

2. Apply this soothing toner to affected areas with a cotton ball, and let it sink into your skin.

Status: offline 		i do know that i used a shaving lotion called choochy cream it says rash free and it is a all over body shave cream and it works wonders leaves the skin very smooth and soft...havent got razor burn or bumps since i have used it...i know my Master bought mine at loverslane.com....might be worth a shot in the future to try...i tell all my friends of it and they loved it after they tried it...
