I think I agree with hawkwolf that almost everybody is a switch at some level. Personally I call myself a sub because that is my nature in most instances, but sometimes I do feel the desire to play the alpha male(dominant) role with women.

Pretty much, that's how I operate - The chemistry with some people is such that I top them - with others, I generally bottom - and with a very few switches I know, it can go either way. Oh, yeah...aren't we all freaks of nature? After all the chromosomes randomly mixed...Besides...normal is overrated. All it means is average and I don't choose to be average. OK...How do I get rid of the ice cream cone? (newbie to the site)

Yeah, it's just you....how is any question wrong? Even yours....just asking........shrugs Anyway, i found this thread interesting because of my own recent experiences. When i found my way to this lifestyle, i identified 100% as a sub, couldn't comprehend switching. But then, the men i was drawn to were very Dominant types themselves, so no, it wouldn't have come up anyway. Until recently, when at a party, i met a delightful, sweet sub boy, the chemistry was instant, and we are exploring this relationship. I am definitely the more dominant, and truly enjoying his submissive nature toward me. Still i cherish my role in my relationship with my Mentor Dom. They're both me, so what am i? just me.......and i can live with that label! teal/his Lady me

I haven't had much experience with either I'm afraid. I know I'm a masochist and feel like I'm mostly sub. I'm not sure if I could be a sadist even to the right person. I am definitely having desires to dominate also but I'm not sure in what sense. For now it's all about exploring what my boundaries and desires are. I don't think you're crazy. Hi. I have two profiles here... 'bearlee' and 'MsBearlee'... I consider myself a submissive who likes to Top. Just yesterday I received a one-line e-mail that said "You really do need to make up your mind whether you're Dom or sub." followed a few minutes later with "Perhaps you need to give up your dominant profile or call yourself a switch." (Not to worry, we're becoming fast friends...he's much more reasonable than he started off... LOL ) It is my contention that I am not really a switch...in that I don't. Well, not with individual people. I am mostly (and strongly) submissive... but I do sooooo love the physicality of Topping. It turns out I have a sadistic streak a mile wide...but I'm a pleaser, too. I have had the exciting honor of playing with some very experienced, and thoroughly Sadistic (in a consensual kind of way), Dominants and so I have intimate knowledge of what it feels like to be on the receiving end of floggers and whips and canes and things. For that reason, I like to beat people! LOL Having said all that...I am seriously into The Power Exchange. I like the idea of giving up control and authority of me, with regard to most things, to another. But once that has happened, I don't know that I could ever swap. Ya know? Perhaps it's because I don't play at the relationship side of D/s? I am either submissive OR Toppy; I can submit to someone, or I can Top them...but I cannot do both with the same person. And...I contend I'm no Domme (much to the dismay of some less masochistic-type boys). So...it's for those reasons that, while I'm generally considered a switch; I just don't think I am. Perhaps it's semantics, I dunno. I also know better than to never say never. Heck, it seems to me the ones who CAN switch with the same partner might be having more fun!!! [&:] I like the fact that we are so open to this sort of stuff...that some people can switch at the raise of an eyebrow, and others with the switch of a partner....and neither are 'wrong'!!! beverly

I think it depends on your own personal definition of a Switch also. I think some mistake Switch for Top. I only Switch once every 5 years or so it doesn't change how I view Myself though. I thought that I was the only one who felt that way. I agree, if someone dominates me, I would not be able to switch and dominate them. I was actually told by my first dom to go ahead and do what he did. I couldn't stop laughing because it didn't feel right. If someone submits to me, I cannot have them dominate me. I am just so happy that these feelings are common.

Looks like i might be one of the freaks... I'm pretty easy going one way or the other... Though i'm primarily submissive, i've ended up changing roles multiple times with one person, and, on occasion, multiple times while playing. I must admit, though, that the relationship was, if anything, primarily the 'b' part of the bdsm... not sure what that counts for, if anything, though. I'm also a believer that for one to be a top/bottom/sub/dom/walrus/elephant, it's important to have experience the flip side of the coin at least once. Something along the lines of 'to truly learn something, one must teach it'. Don't ask me where i got that quote from, though, i've got no idea. Could've been karate kid, for all i know. But that's probably getting a little off topic.

I wouldn't list myself a switch on a site. But like a lot of people some males turn on that other side with me. I am a Dom by nature. I know two partners/friends that I like to switch with. But with them we do not have a power exchange. Its more of a power stuggle then anything else. I love to Top from the bottom. Something about fighting my way back into control just does it for me. Shrugs

So many fellow freaks of nature! I am submissive to one, and only one. He "gave" himself to me once for 24 hours and I just couldn't do it. lol But give me a good sub and watch out. Our girl actually took well over a year to truly give herself to me because, in her words, my intensity as a dominant "scared her". Even my submission to him, in whatever form it takes (usually very mild, but sometimes rather extreme), doesn't lessen my dominance over her, in her eyes.
