Pardon this question if it has been posted elsewhere... I tried searching but did not come up with anything that sounded like what I was asking. Someone on another BDSM site contacted me and we struck up a conversation on protocol. It was all very interesting, batting ideas back and forth. I checked his profile after the second or third email and noticed that he was a twenty-six year old heterosexual male Dominant who had listed "Old Guard" in his interests. I've always been under the impression that the Old Guard applied specifically to the community of Gay men who adopted an early leather life style following World War II and before the 1960s. However they didn't use that term to describe what they were doing. Rather the term was a derogatory term applied to those veteran players by a newer and more inclusive generation of leather men who came later. Has the term evolved to mean something else?
