ORIGINAL: purepleasure just talked to him, he's safe and taking the turnpike. "An estimated 5,000 residents living within about a one-mile radius of Wind Gap and Route 33, which includes parts of Wind Gap borough and Plainfield and Bushkill townships, were forced to flee their homes early this morning. Officials say a truck hauling 33,000 pounds of hydrogen fluoride swerved to avoid hitting a deer and overturned " Hydrogen fluoride is a superacid and very corrosive. Which really sucks, since PennDOT just fixed the roads in that section of Route 33 last summer. I hope it won't have too much impact on the environment, because it's really beautiful there. Swerving to avoid hitting a deer in a big truck is always a bad bad idea. You never know which way the deer will go & you'll more than likely wreck the truck & the deer will scamper off into the woods. I've come so close to hitting deer while driving the truck that a couple of times I swear there were tail hairs on the bumper, but I've never hit one, nor have I had an accident while trying to avoid one.
