ORIGINAL: sirsholly Oh goody. I just found out the guy who cuts our grass was using the weedwacker yesterday and a 6ft snake bit him when he got too close to a tree. He says it was a harmless black snake. HARMLESS MY ASS!!! It BIT him...how harmless is that???? Betcha it was an Anaconda...or a Cobra. Could have been a Python.... Well, the good news is that he's around to tell you that it is harmless.....it was probably a black racer...they get to be pretty long, and since he had a weed whacker, the vibrations in the air to the snake were a threat, he simply reacted according to insitnct....PLEASE, tell me he didn't kill the snake! I've been bitten tons of times by snakes, non-venomous, of course, it smarts a little, and you have to make sure you clean it ou t really good and pick out any teeth that are in your skin to avoid infection, but I've had paper cuts that hurt worse than snake bites. And, um, Holly....contrary to what you think, cobras, anacondas and pythons aren't naturally found in Pennsylvania, so you can breathe easy there......the rattlesnakes, copperheads and moccasins, unfortunately are found in your neck of the woods, but usually in the REAL woods. Leave 'em be, they'll leave you be.....live and let live....'sides, would you rather have one big snake, or 500 mice and rats? OK, I'm done.......if'n you haven't guessed, I like snakes...... oh dayyyyy-um. If we get rid of the snake, that means i will have to pick up all the fast food wrappers? And no to hurting the viscous beast, Soul. I think the poor man was so stunned he couldn't do much of anything. Thanks for the info though. I try hard NOT to kill spiders or snakes....but then again I live in the BUGGY South and those beasties kill a lot of the bad stuff!....I have extracted snakes from a neighbors kitchen....and will wack one if it is just too close to the house...and have flamed up a couple of black widows....but only due to proximity....not that I like any of them!!!!!
