Aylee, there has yet to be a times when I felt I was in danger. I know my body .
I do everything a dr would tell me to do, this time I confirmed what was wrong with my dr and he agreed that I was on the money on how I treated the symptoms and it just took waiting out for him to return to the county, he is a one man office.

In the last 3 years I have caught whats going around maybe twice, its bothers me lightly a couple of days and poof.
Plus I rarely get sick. a cold...last about 2 days never a fever
same with any virus going around
I do get coughs that dont like to go away in my chest, but again I do what any dr would tell you to do, treat the symtoms Plus I smoke so there is the smokers cough factor.

If at any time I was truly concered the hospital is 2 blocks away.

Im crazy but not dumb

Ray i dont watch that Doctors day show, but I do watch all the other hospital shows. House is a must see

Now I do keep my mental health dr appts faithfully. And not one to not be meds compliant
I have no wish to be bound up in a strait jacket, bondage is not not one of my kinks

I do go see the doctor when I think there is a problem. Even if it seems silly. Two examples. . .

One of my ears kept feeling like it had water in it (such as after a bath) and after about 10 days of this it got VERY annoying. Not painful. Just annoying. SO, I made an appointment. Yes, I felt like an idiot for it. Well, come to find out, I had collasped my eustachian tube. Decongestants cleared that up. I talked to a guy later (my parents neighbor) who had the same thing happen to him. He decided NOT to go to the doctor. Ended up rupturing his ear drum (amoung other things) and now has something like 75% hearing loss in that ear.

The other is after about another 10 days of what felt like bad menstral cramps, I made a doctor's appopintment. Again, I felt like an idiot for making the appointment. I mean, FFS, they are just cramps. But I was getting annoyed with them lasting so long and no period. Well, they weren't "cramps." I had ovarian cysts. One at least was bigger than ovary itself. Without treatment and monitering, it could have burst and I would have hemmoraged and bled out. Not so good. Funny part is when the doctor had me come back in to discuss the sono results with me. He gave the dimensions in cm. and I did the conversions in my head, and said, "Well, that explains why it hurts so much." His response was, "Yes, I bet you are hurting!."

So, yes, CD, I DO go to the doctor if there is something wrong. And everyone else is now thinking, "WAY too much info there, Aylee!"

I return you to your normal insanity!

okay let me admit something. Going to a medical dr or hospital causes me horrible panic attacks, a regular dr treating someone with mental difficulties is damn near impossible.
The WN pretty much affected my muscles and I had muscles relaxers, and took OTC to keep any fever down.
I slept through most of it. With my ammune system is was short lived. Mom was there and would have called the ambulance or taken me to the hospital is she thought I was at risk.

When I got here to NYC I braved up and went around and got a full body checkup, physically healthy as they come besides weak ankles and an always stiff neck and shoulders due to an auto accident.

The only thing they did find was I was Vit D deficient so now use my full spectrum light if I cant bring myself to get out and let the sun beat on me.

I'm not one to go to the Dr's either.
2 years ago I collapsed from fever due to pneumonia. Did I call 911? No, I live in our 1st due area & I knew who was on duty that night. I took my chances on my own.
Did I go to the Dr's? Yes.............3 days later when I could walk & a friend made me!

**Eta, I do have a mandatory annual physical every Jan.**

I am not advocating that someone go to the doctor everytime that they have a sniffle or a sore muscle. But I do think that people should recognize when their bodies are not "acting the right way," and do something about it. And certainly not wait until it is a more serious situation.

Keep in mind, that in both my little stories, I waited over a week for my body to take care of the problem. When it did not happen, that is when I went to the doctor.

And yes, I do think that getting the once over after an accident like Jim's is a good idea.

and I do just that.

I knew what was causing my distress and it was either ride it out or see the right dr as soon as he was back with this last incident. My medical dr would just have referred me to the hospital or the other dr and he was out of the country. But the minute he got back I called and he saw me immediately....problem solved and back to my normal. I didn see it as hospital worthy.

And yes I probably should have gone to the hospital for the WN but I was in a period of acute agoraphobia, and for me took the lesser of 2 evils.

*shrug* I havent killed myself yet. ROFL

Hey all y'all SW Ohio crew...just when you thought it was safe to leave the house, check out what may happen Monday...

"BUT SIGNS ARE GROWING THAT ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM MAY BE ON THE HORIZON FOR THE REGION. AT FIRST GLANCE...THE SETUP LOOKS STRIKINGLY SIMILAR TO THE DEC 22-23 2004 STORM THAT PRODUCED SIGNIFICANT ICE/SNOW ACRS THE OH VLY.

That storm in 2004 shut down the area for a few days. It was hell on my Christmas shopping.

Really, I just believe in being proactive about health and paying attention to one's body. You need to know where you are going to draw the line about things getting getting better on their own.
