so Rain - does this mean you were not a fan of the original Indiana Jones movie - where Harrison Ford get dropped into a pit full of .... SNAKES!!! (teehee - don't worry hun - I couldn't even watch that part)

I lost it when I saw that part. I couldn't watch it, still can't. And the huge-assed snake in the plane at the beginning? I freaked, had to leave the theatre. I've always had problems with them but after having a baby rattler thrown in my face in the 10th grade biology class, I simply can't handle them and end up a total mess, huddling in my bedroom if I run into one unprepared. The bizarre thing is - I've been praised and offered a job based on my ability to handle them.

I impressed a manager at a pet store with how I wouldn't let a brat of a corn snake piss me off when it kept trying to bite me. Needless to say, I turned down her offer, because while I was ok that time, I knew I simply couldn't work with snakes on a regular basis.

Then there was the time I almost stepped on a full-sized adult rattler in the Sierras... it was sunning itself across the path and I thought it was a stick. Until it curled up, rattled and started to draw back to strike at me.... Oh ya, I levitated back to camp that time, it took them hours to calm me down and half a bottle of brandy.

When I was a child, I walked out onto my Grandparents back steps to go play in their yard. There was a snake. It scared the hell out of me. I started jumping up and down and screaming my head off. Parents and Grandparents rushed out the door to see what was the problem. There was me, jumping up and down, screaming bloody murder, and a dead snake. Yes, I had been jumping up and down on the snake in my patent-leather shoes. It had tried to get away from me and I trampled it unknowingly. So. . . a warning to all snakes. . . don't scare a six year old girl wearing patent-leather shoes!

I hate it when things run/slither/move out in front of me. I find it highly starteling. And I will try and kill it. I have had some really stupid co-workers that have found it funny to sneak up on me. Of course, they tend to cease finding it funny once they realize that I do jump and spin around ready to swing.

My biggest phobia is of grasshoppers. When I was in about grade 1 or 2, my best friend - the proverbial boy next door - decided it would be fun to drop on down the back of my one-piece bathing suit. It wasn't fun. Driving through Saskatchewan in the late summer - I have been known to spend the entire trip with my eyes closed ...... thunk thump thunk splat .......

Ugggh, YDD... sounds like Idaho, Oregon and Nevada, driving almost anywhere in the summer. The worst thing is, if you don't get the damn goo off ASAP from your car, it's almost impossible to clean off. I hate that crunch, crunch, splat, pop sound....

btw...i took the trash out with a can of Raid in my hand. Bug spray will have to work, as they do not make a snake spray.

I have lived out here all of my adult life. We have bears, coyotes, bobcats and the occasional rabid raccoon. This is the first time i have ever been scared.
