Status: offline 		Guys...a warning here. Whereas the smiley faces are cute and charming, they are also deadly to a computer. The tech counted over 150 viruses  and stopped counting. He called and said he has to wipe out the entire computer (sob!). Every picture, bookmark, etc is gone!!! (loud whine!) He tried to save some of the pictures for me, but they were also infected with all the viruses and it was not possible.

And before some wise-ass asks (JEFF!!!) yes we have all the typical virus protection and ran periodic virus scans. There was nothing we could do, as the final virus was so deadly it prevented us from logging on to run the scan. We were the 4th people to bring their computers in this week with the same thing (he called it a worm).

He said the main culprits are the charming smilies, Facebook, MySpace, and sites such as that.

Please be careful guys. You do not realize how precious some of the things are that you have stored on your computer until they are gone.

Yanno everyone when asked about what they miss the most (house fire etc) say the pictures and its SO SO true. i now print my pictures and keep them in a fireproof lock box.  im sorry to hear that.

thanks Tammy. This was a wake-up call. The DVD's etc are now going into a firesafe box. Imagine losing the tapes of my sons first moments in the hospital.

My kids used to feed blocks into the VCR. I got real good at disassembling it, removing foreign objects, and putting it back together for another round of Barney.

Welcome back holly.

Two hour delay so far, wouldn't be surprised if school is cancelled. We aren't getting much snow total, but it's all during morning drive time.

omg how i know. and again my heart truly goes out. We lost alot of adopted pets, and those we cried for, but in the end it was still all those pictures that could never be replaced that killed both me and the kids. My daughter and to some degree my son had some things of their fathers who had passed away, Those were extremely hard too. But ahhh the pics!!  hugs!

he has the VCR stuffed full of those magnetic refrigerator letters. Since we don't use the VCR part, just the DVD player, it is not a priority.

The snow here is so bad, Celeste. We had 5 inches on top of the 4 inches that was already out there...and as much as another 6 inches by tomorrow morning. And hubby is out in it. He refused to call off.

I hope for your sake they just cancel school for the teen (and he hopes so as well!!)
