Soul...the right hand was done two yrs ago and is perfect! The left was great until about 6 months ago. I tried to ignore it but it got so bad so fast i have to do something. I am left handed and nearly can't use it at all. Plus..the carpal damage is "moderate to severe" and once it goes to "severe" the surgery becomes less effective...so there is a time crunch.

The issue is scar tissue formed over the muscle, pressing it into the carpal nerve. The awesome Dr Doom has to go in and remove the scar tissue, which makes it a pretty serious deal with a long recovery. It is going to suck being so useless for the first Christmas the LoudOne is really aware of what is going on. The first tree he is able to help decorate...the first gifts he really gives a darn about opening... not to mention how protective he is of me. I have no problem seeing him pop the doc with a right hook.

Ah, c'mon, at least be fair and make LO use his left - we all know how hard he punches! 

And I can't say anything but get better quick. I had both hands done for CTS this time last year. Well, just after Christmas. Not at the same time, but several weeks apart. I joked that one was "Happy Birthday" and the other was "Merry Christmas" to myself. Just before coming to Canada I got the news they wanted me to have surgery for ulnar nerve damage but they couldn't give me any odds of it working. So I said no thanks. (I'm paying the price now though.... sigh.)

You'll heal fast. The protein helps. Anyone mention vitamin C to you as well? It helps with the anasthesia recovery also.

Think about pumping them up for a while to speed recovery. Most are water soluble like B6 and B12 and the C so whatever you don't need you'll just pee away. My surgeon told me that one.... (And my regular doc, and the PT, and the chiropractor........)

Not much comfort in that, Rain when you have to work on major holidays, but Monkey, remember that soon you'll be moving to the UK. THAT is what you're working for. Pack those furbabies up and cross the muddy waters AFTER of course you train your replacement!  Here are some sparkles just for you!
