I don't have them because my job requires short nails, and I've found that, after years of jobs that required short nails (midwife, paramedic, clinical researcher), It is difficult to suddenly get long nails and still do the things that require "fingertip dexterity" for me, like piercing, putting in an IV, or even using a scalpel. I'd have to completely re-learn the skills. Not that I'm unwilling, but... ok, frankly, I'm unwilling -- I know how to do it with short nails, don't have to worry about puncturing my nitrile gloves, and don't have to figure out how to develop the right 'fingernail to fingertip nerve' sensitivity....Hence, I will probably -never- have long nails.... however, my nails are very thin and, according to my Darling, "Razor sharp and brutal... get those nubby razor blades away from me!"

Ma'ams nails are about a quarter of an inch long when She gets them done, so not actually 'long'. But the length of nails isn't particularly important so long as they're sharp. Ma'amks nails are delicions and She can send me flying with them alone.

I always keep my talons long, red & glossy and manicured every 2 weeks.

They are an extension of my tools, very much used

You know... I enjoy having my back scatched (gently) as much as anyone else. Maybe I should have my boy let his grow just long enough to do so.

Having long nails is like having blocks of wood attached to the tips of your fingers. At least in my experience.

For me, they're just not practical. They affect my piano-playing, I have yet to figure out how to pick up a dropped coin without scrabbling at it for half an hour like a moron, and if I'm cooking, forget it! Things inevitably get shoved down underneath them where I can't get at it and blechhhhh

I love the way they look though, so it's kind of a sad thing. I get acrylics for special occasions and then usually gnaw them off about a week later.

I have little thin flappy natural nails... so I decided to get fake ones... ugh- what a pain in the ass.

I shut them in the door and snap them off, I'm on ebay, and thoughtlessly nibble the tip of another one off without paying attention. I'm welding, and melt one to the tip of the torch accidently when I go to clean up.

The WORST part is when you decide you are through with the bitches, and have to deal with 2-3 months of floppy, ground down nails while you wait for them to regrow.

On the other hand, a friend of mine has little talon things that fit over each of her fingers- they might be about 4 inches long, and are like little steel knives tracing over your back.

I have long natural fingernails I keep well manicured, which is easy for me, my manicurist lives next door!

I consider my hands, and my fingernails, and some of my most important tools.

I indulge in a subs fetish only if it amuses me first. Long nails isn't one that amuses me. I like the look. I admire them on other women, if I ever kept a female slave or a male slave that didn't need to keep a certain public image I'd make them get their nails done to be pretty for me. For my own hands, however, I'll keep them clean, short and unpolished but I do keep them buffed and shiny!

lol... Was hoping that brown stain wasn't mistaken for dried blood... I've tried everything and the only solution would be to cut off my nails... well... that ain't happening.

And Thank you... menopause was good to me I guess. The only problem I have with my nails is keeping them from getting to long.

I've had long nails since I was 16 years old.
I guess I got used to typing with them. I wear gloves to do housework or cook.

It's certainly a high maintenance and if one breaks you need to cut them all.
I never tried fake nails cause I like natural nails.

As a child I always started biting of My nails when I was bored or nervous. And still now the only way to keep Me from biting My nails is to keep them long with a colour on it.

And I love scratching My slaves back.
