hi all. this is a question my Master sent to me to answer my answer is here too. Master gave me persmissive to post this and ask how would you answer this question if you where asked.  please let me know how long you have been in the lifestyle. i have only been 3 months.  If the government brought back real and legal slavery, would you sign yourself over to your Owner as his/her slave? you would think this question could be answered with an yes or a no in a heart beat. and maybe for some in there relationship they would jump on board before the ink dried on the contract. but we are not talking marriage here where you can find a divorce lawyer on every street corner.or you wouldn't be able to say i am leaving because we are no longer compatible. this would be a real, legal and a law if you signed you would lose all your freedoms and rights. and you would only have the freedoms and rights your Master would afford you. our constitution.for the signer they would lose all there rights. at this time i don't believe i know myself or my Master well enough to answer this question today. i am a very strange willed women who has given my Master a gift. my slavery to Him i don't think W/we need a sign piece of paper for that.

littleone35 -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 4:25:51 PM)

My answer would have to be no.  If my Master wanted a slave he would have found himself a slave.  He wanted a submissive and that is exactly what he got.  He does own me though and i wear his collar.  I have been in the lifestyle 10 years.

Slavery in the consensual Ms sense we discuss here is no more "real" because the government sanctions it- however, it can be nice for people who want an Ms relationship and NOT other forms currently available.

Yes, there are people I would have signed over to.  I don't really see much difference in what actually happened in the end though.

Hello lynn
Just the thought makes me shudder. My answer is no.

Please though keep in mind that i am a submissive, but still would not do so if i was serving Sir as a slave.

I been in this lifestyle for 2 years. Curious, why do you want to know the length of time a person been in the lifestyle?

No.  If by "real" you are referring to "non-consentual" and by "legal" you mean legally enforceable, then no, not only would I not want my wife to become my slave, but I'd sure as hell lobby aggressively against any such thing.  Failing that, I'd probably find a different country to call home.  This attitude, I'm sure, stems from the fact that I don't think of consent as durable or permanent.

I've been with my Sir for three wonderful years, 24/7, real time - and  no, i wouldn't.

Unfortunately, humans are fickle beings, and legal slavery isn't like a tattoo. If you get sick of it, you would be stuck in a relationship that wouldn't be fufilling or fun. Bad idea.

NessunDorma -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 6:28:36 PM)

As much as I want a slave...

...I don't think I'd accept one under those conditions. What's most important to me is the willingness of their slavery...this would undermine any certainty of that.

krikket -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 6:50:14 PM)

i'm a sub, not a slave, but either way my answer would be no.  Why would we want to back to those horrible days when the future, for all it's uncertainty, is so much more...

WestBaySlave -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 6:56:44 PM)

  I wouldn't, I wouldn't be interested in a master who would want that, I wouldn't associate with anyone who endorsed it, and if made legal I would fight as hard as possible to make it illegal again.

  It's a concept that goes against everything I stand for.

yes.  however, it would only legally and externally legitimize what this slave has already internalized.

DesFIP -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 7:29:37 PM)

Nope. Because I am a very strong believer in consent. I want to be with him. I need to be able to choose to be with him, to submit to him. He wouldn't want it either for the same reason. He wouldn't want to be with someone who didn't want to be with him, didn't love him, didn't value him.

If he did, he would still be with his ex. As would I.

marie2 -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 7:57:00 PM)

No.

The idea of it might bring about feelings of passion and romance of a unique kind, but I think I've had enough relationships and experiences in life to know that often times we (ourselves and our partners) change and/or eventually grow in different directions.  I think it's just easier for everyone to be free to go their own way if and when the relationship no longer works.  Having said that, I'm sure that the lack of a contract wouldn't lessen my level of loyalty and devotion to my "owner".  I've always viewed this stuff as more of a state of mind than anything else.  You feel what you feel, and if that changes it changes, and if it doesn't it doesn't.  Agreements on paper mean nothing to me.

XaviersXian -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 8:11:36 PM)

greetings to all,

OP, this same topic was, at one time, discussed on the Gorean slave thread.  The discussion there might be of use to you.

well wishes,

mbes -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 8:16:41 PM)

I would think carefully about it. I would most likely do it.
One thing I have absolute confidence in is that he would no more harm me than harm himself. Therefore, if he believed that owning me was doing me harm, he would do all in his power to correct the situation. I have no fear that he would attempt to continue ownership beyond the point that it was good for both of us; he would dissolve the bond before that happened.
I'm more troubled by the idea of marriage being temporary, however much I am aware that I am in the minority on that.

No. What I get from Fox is special in that he chooses to be my slave, it is a choice he wakes up every day and makes It is a choice that is his to make, and I appreciate the fact that he still has that choice.
IF that were no longer the case, when it stopped being a matter of his having to commit himself to me day in and day out I doubt Id have much interest in it. I want Fox for who he is and who he has become for me, no for a contractual piece of property who happens to still be around because to leave would be illegal.

ishyB -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 9:50:21 PM)

Greetings lynn,

Without a second of doubt: yes I would.
I'm not ever saying this out of the romanticized idea of legal slavery.
This is a question I have thought about for a long time, wicked and weighed it and looked at it from every angle.
If such a law would come into practice it would be fully Master's choice if I would sign myself over to him or not, and whatever decision he made I would follow his instruction.
Edited to add: I've been my Master's property for about 6 months now.

I wish you well,

ishy

Under Masters roof close to 4yrs now, and yes if that choice were available for me to make, and he would still want me.

tsatske -> RE: slavery (12/5/2008 10:05:57 PM)

Yes, but that is not an answer that would work for everyone - it would just, as Mercnbeth said, legitamize what I already am.

But I am interested in all this emphaises on 'consent'. This is a hypothetical question - a fantasy construct for the purpose of exploring certain things in the form of a 'thought experment'.

In the construct she provided, she said - 'would you sign yourself over into slavery to a Master you had chosen?'
I am not saying that anyone who said no 'should' have said yes - the answer given by each person is fine. I am just curious about all this 'non-consent' talk. Where is the non-consent in this fictional scenario?

And - just curious - would any specific laws regarding this fictional slavery change anyones answers? If, for instance, after having chosen the particular person to sign yourself over to, you could, or could not, be sold to anyone of that Masters chosing? If the law protected certain rights? If the 'contract' was fully enforcable but could be time limited if both parties desired that written in? ect, ect.
