Greeds. I was using a mideast type mission as an example. Our service men and women are sent to all parts of the globe for all sorts of interesting jobs both covert and non. There is a place for blonde/blue, hispanic/mediterranean, black, semitic, asian or any other ethnic look you can imagine. DS has a good idea. If you want to suss him out, just ask to see a DD214 with his name obscured.

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 9:31:23 AM)

If I could remember his ID, maybe I would... LOL

CRYPTICLXVI -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 9:47:04 AM)

Heard a story of a guy being court marshalled for refusing to cut his beard on religious grounds just yesterday on NPR. He is to shave it or have it forcibly shaved before the military trial if I remember right...

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 9:51:09 AM)

yeah, that was the guy that shot the hell outta his post, IIRC... killing several folks.

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 9:57:08 AM)

I admit that I would like to suggest to city counsel that open season on annoying ice cream trucks should be declared as a legitimate hunting season.

Thaz -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 10:49:57 AM)

If your in real doubt I have some contacts with the SF community who can quickly tell a real deal from a fake...either side of the pond. For reference like a previous poster I have trained with but am not of. There's a website for finding fake US Seals and the like and the UK equivilant is via the ARRSE (Army RumouR Service) website and their 'Walt hunter' service (for Walter Mitty). Warning if you go post in the latter be prepared for levels of Snark that make Collarme look like a petting zoo.

OsideGirl -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 11:24:00 AM)

I admit that we went to a charity gala last night....and Master surprised me by winning this for me in the silent auction:

Love the Rat Pack... very cool present.

I admit: question for the Army/former Army types. I just saw a pic, on the CM side, of a guy wearing an Airborne uniform - and sporting a goatee and mustache. It wasn't full color (but not quite sepia). It is my understanding that -while in uniform - military personnel are expected to be clean shaven.

So, is this dude visually mis-representing himself?

When my husband was in the Navy from 1990 until his death in 1994, the rule was you must be clean shaven but you could have a mustache as long as it was trimmed neatly and hair could be no longer than a certain length which I don't remember anymore. My husband just always got a buzz cut. And if you were on vacation or time off for whatever you could not wear the uniform if the physical requirements were not in place. I remember one guy back then who did that. He was on a two week vacation and he put his uniform on because he had to go the base form some paperwork or something. He got in trouble for it and ended up with extra duty on the ship when he returned. In all actuality you were not to wear a uniform while off duty unless you were going on the base during that time.

Maybe they have relaxed the rules since then. I'm not really sure.

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 1:37:59 PM)

Thanks,LW. Perhaps the rules have changed, and others have posted perhaps the rules are different if one is Airborne/SO or something.

*shrug*

I dunno.

ANYWAY (totally unrelated):

I admit I got serious warm fuzzies from this: http://www.upworthy.com/dear-dads-everywhere-please-be-more-like-this-guy

I admit I'm so tired of being so tired 24/7. I hope the antibiotics clear this up in the next couple of weeks.
I admit I'm starving but I don't feel like going out right now since my fridge is empty.
I admit it's a sunny but cold day today which means I really should go outside soon.
I admit I have a job interview with a temp company on Monday because I applied for a job in DC on their site.
I admit I don't know whether I want to go or not.
I admit having two night classes and having to volunteer for 25 hours for my required class, I don't think I will be able to take the position, at least not until the beginning of December when the semester wiill be over.
I admit when I applied for the job I hadn't thought of days I can't work or have to leave early for.
I admit I would love to have the job in DC even though it takes about an hour to get there with the commuter train here.
I admit If Master didn't leave for work extremely early, I'd carpool with him since he works right outside of DC.
I admit we're going to see Peter Gabriel in concert tomorrow night. YAAAYY!!! Can't wait.

I am a US Marine...not active duty anymore, BUT we were not allowed to wear our cammies off duty except for traveling to and from work (or on base). Other uniforms (Alphas, Charlies, dress uniforms etc...) were okay. I think other branches have different rules though.

Thanks. I've always loved Peter Gabriel. I had seen him in concert about 20 years when I did table set-ups for The Amnesty International tour.

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 2:08:08 PM)

*rapidly turning green*

I have not hadthe chance to see him live.,.. but he IS on my bucket list. Sadly, I no longer live in a city he is likely to do a show in...

BIKO is one of my favorite songs of his.

Mercy Street, too.

Family SNapshot...

Hell, I could probably go through his entire catalog...LOL

Shininglight23 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 2:10:01 PM)

I admit... I mailed my Andrea Bocelli tickets this afternoon to a friend in S.F.

I admit... It pains me that I can't go, but I'm glad someone can enjoy them.

I admit... I thought I would treat myself to a different type of show, but Of Monsters and Men was SOLD OUT.

I admit... They are really great, but they aren't worth the $85-$120 resale price.

I admit... I would have paid the $40 face value.

Allie

I admit I used to live in MD and work in DC.
I admit I feel like a stroll down Memory Lane.
I admit I'm curious what town LW lives in, and whereabouts in DC might she be working.

TallullahHk -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/13/2012 5:23:02 PM)

I admit...I have cioppino simmering on the stove.
I admit...I don't feel like doing the dishes.
I admit...I'm fighting a cold and don't feel like doing anything else for the rest of the night.
