I admit, poor you, flu is no fun.
I admit Fall flew by like an express train, this year, in Colorado Springs, and Winter's fast behind it.
I admit my body's confused as a result.
I admit feeling pretty darned punkish today, as well, and can keep you company, Ash, if ya want!

Yes, Phoenix? [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Yanno....I am working with 19 kids right now....(we had 20 but one we threw out after he tried to throw chairs and other stuff towards the other kids)....11 of them are 5-7, the others are up to 9....

and I NEED "hope" to survive at work [>:]

I admit the peeeeeps do have their very short moments when the realise to shut up....like...when the quiet ones start getting their food and they still have to wait....but jeeeeeesh they need fucking long to learn that [8|][>:]

I admit I asked my boss if we actually are insured against tinitus [:o]

..and I'd probably need drugs up the wahoo, to deal with that many kids. My hat's off to you!

We were just talking yesterday about how many times there was snow by Hallowen when we lived in CS. Keep the snow brush for your car handy.

I admire you Phoenix. I could never work with that many kids. When I was in nursing school, I spent a month in the newborn nursery. My baby was a little prem boy. I swear that kid knew the minute I stepped on the unit, because he would start screaming, and just kept going..and going..and going..

Thank you...

and we actually arent filled yet...we have space for 25 (twenty-five!!!!!)...

I admit my 2 bosses above me aim to keep our groups as they are (currently 21 and 19 kids) and start filling a 3rd group instead of filling us up....but I can't rely on it, cause with a national shortage of about 15000 in my field...it isn't even easy to get the staff for it [&:]

I admit as some of you know....I am already having exit plans in a different fashion and am pretty sure to never return to this part in my field...cause it is nice that those kids still do have manners (with the exception of the one we had to discharge....he has other issues which we can't help him with, there) and dont insult me from A-Z as in some kids homes they love to do [8|].....but at the same time I am also quite bored as you are simply awfully limited in what you can do in a creative way, due to the time constraints we have....so I realise that the shift work with working with 8-9 challenging kids in a home suits me more than working with 20 of them in a day care setting....

So many kids with just 2 staff is just not really my cup of tea...though we do make progress (they are now fairly quiet during learning times - we are in different rooms each with half of the kids and I sit now between the 2 main trouble makers so they can't run around anymore - and get better now as well in laying the table and washing it up afterwards) but it just feels like taking forever....

I admit, though, I am ok with this job now for as long as I will stay there....and value the fact of regular working patterns...

I admit it is time to go off to bed.....need to get some sleep before facing them again [:)]

LP, it'll probably sound silly, but the last two years, I've just kept my snow shovel on my porch year around!

Whereabouts in the Springs were you?

LaTigresse -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/22/2012 2:34:58 PM)

I think my brother, who lives in South Fork, got snow over a month ago. I am pretty sure my sister in Salida got some about the same time.

It's hot and humid here today.

lol, thanks....there were moments where I asked the boss "now, where is our bottle of Baldrian (not sure if you know that name in english...however, its stuff which is supposed to keep you calm)...

I admit, though, sometimes we are wondering what is actually harder to deal with...the kids or their parents....though thankfully most of the parents are ok....so we just face the ones with a deep breath, who expect us to do the work of a fulltime school (that all homework is completed and perfectly correct) cause they will never get the fact that we have just one hour time for that and whilst we do our best, it is not our job to ensure that everyone gets finished and finishes it correctly...cause with having 3-4 in each learning group which need more attention due to their behaviour (one 6 year old loves water....and he used to flood his homework....[8|] now I sit next to him and the wall on the other side...so there is no way to get to the sink!!!) just isn't the best situation to spend enough time with everyone for their homework...

I admit it actually always gives me a snark when parents think for 1-2 euro per hour (thats what they pay for 80 hours a month inclusive mealtime) they can expect the same work as 1:1 nanny service....bejeeeesus[8|] I don't mind criticism....but ffs, stay realistic, too [8|]

LaTigresse -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/22/2012 2:41:43 PM)

I admit, there is NO WAY I could work with children on a daily basis. I would end up in prison for child abuse ( I've been known to grab an ear to get a kid's attention...) and inappropriate touching. ( I am also hugger )

I lived there for fifteen years, so I had a few locations. I lived on Palmer Park for a while. Had a place in Stratmoor Valley for a few years. After I met and married MP, we lived in Fountain. When we drove through a couple of years back, that town has GROWN.

Remember the two golden rules about CS and snow. The first is to pay attention to all of those Florida, Texas, and California plates. Those are the folks spending their first winter with white stuff and they *really* don't know how to drive in it. (I saw that youtube clip you posted last year.) The second is, if you live south of Bijou and you don't see snow, that doesn't mean it isn't coming down hard once you are north of Bijou. [:D]

I admit my longterm goal (in a few years time) will be to work independently (or semi independent) as a sort of legal guardian for older people as well as mentally affected folks (when they arent able to do all chores for themselves anymore like their finances or when it has to be ensured they are well cared for at home and dont need a care home instead)....sort of social work with the elderly but not working for the council but instead for the justice system....that way I can use my UK degree and earn more and have more my piece as I just work with the client, its family as well as the judge in court....no team drama, no group drama....etc....

I admit the work wouldn't be too bad if we would be 4 staff....but 2 is just no fun...pulling out raining boots out of the toilet, or as the boss realised, one or two of our boys shoved a part of a game down the girls sink and so caused a bit of a flooding as the water came out of the pipes (the plumber found that certain piece in there and somehow the boss was confident that it was one of our boys....wonder why[8|]) and all the other lovely stuff, especially the boys come up with....I think I come closer to an end working with kids and its time to move to the elderly section....seriously, if our main trouble maker wouldnt be as cute as he is....it would be harder to tolerate...[8|] but the level of noice....especially during lunch time....is just no fun, most of the time...

I admit, though....good night now, at last [:)]

kitkat105 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/22/2012 4:21:47 PM)

I admit I couldn't work with children either. One shift, I had to spend 6 hours helping in the paediatric ward and I was shaking like a leaf the whole time - even though the nurse in charge gave me the 'easiest' patients. Don't have the patience. The only child I get along with is my cousin's 4 year old daughter and that's because she is awesomesauce.

RemoteUser -> RE: I Admit It I........ (10/22/2012 4:22:44 PM)

I admit that my son is a genius. The hot water kicked out for a bit. Does that stop his shower? No. Instead, he flushes the toilet, repeatedly, and presto, the water, is hotter.

I admit that I've missed my girl today, but she's been pretty busy. Maybe we can snuggle in for a while tonight. [:)]

LadyP, I know all those places. I've heard some folks allude to Fountain as being a bit low rent, as of late. Don't know what it was like when you were here. How long ago were you here?

You are sooooo right about transplanted, warm weather drivers here. They are incredibly dangerous and frustrating. How funny you remember that youtube video I posted. It really gets like that here.

That's funny about Bijou, as well, and so true. It's so odd. It can be warm and sunny here on the Westside, and freezing, icy and blizzardy in Monument. Strange place.

Do you miss it?

Oh my dear, it breaks my heart teachers are not paid their worth. What could possibly be more important than what they do for our children? How can we, in good conscience, expect them make good of our children when we send them so many out of countrol, antisocial little beasts, who aren't even housebroken? To me, what you do is simply inestimable, and I wish you were, at the very least, financially rewarded as such.

Thank you for all you do for the little critters.

Sometimes. It's been roughly eight/nine years since we lived there. I'd probably be half lost in the city now. MP was shocked when he was there the last time.

The drivers really can't help themselves in the winter. Between the military presence *and* the influx from Silicone Valley in the past, there are just too many of them. I wasn't a bit surprised that video came from CS.

Oddly enough, one of the things I *definitely* miss is a little shack of a restaurant that went out of business before you moved there. Greatest Mexican burritos, etc. It was all the rage when it opened. It used to be just off of Garden of the Gods (I think the cross street was Circle) across the street from Albertson's. My other half was mad as heck that I had never told him about the place *before* we were moving out of town.

The military, the Siliconians and the HUGE number of elders/retirees we have, who move here for their health or the weather.

I'm wondering whether you mean GoG and Centenniel (which is like all of 7 driving minutes from me)? Circle crosses Austin Bluffs, which GoG turns into, on the east side of I25.

I can understand your SO being mad as heck, as there are so few decent places to eat here. It's an odd, funny thing about the natives and their relationship to the food here. They are under the delusion the food here is fabulous, when in fact most of it is deplorable. Of course, it does not help I'm from NYC, and know what damned GOOD food is. I hate to rain on their parade, but as a rule, it sucks eggs, bigtime.

Some people in the Silicone Valley can't drive where it DOESN'T snow, either. [:D]
