It seems, everytime you turn around, someone's popping up with some stupid religious topic/discussion. It just goes to show that religious just can't leave normal people alone. Someone's always trying to convert, convince or otherwise stick their nose in other people's business. Either they're trying to recruit people to their religion, their church or whatever.

When will the madness end? When will people finally realize the bible is just a book, written so long ago that the contents (if true to begin with) has been twisted and distorted in such a way that people actually believe it. It was (and is) an object used to control people's life with superstition and "spooky language".

There are so many things from page one to the final page that contradict itself. It defies logic.

I've said it before, many times, that George Carlin was right about everything regarding religion.

Come on people...this is the 21st Century. Don't you think it's time we woke up...grew up...and stop believing in the "Boogie Man"?

Maybe because this is the politics and religion section?  Just a thought.

I love this post so much. Thank you for this, I really needed a mood lift.

ETA: I don't love this post because I agree with it, I love it for the irony.

You make a post about religion, then complain about people making posts about religion.
You tell people what they shouldn't believe after complaining that it's the religious who are sticking their nose in other people's business.

And right in the middle is that lovely word "contradict."

Purr...lol post is lol.

I would not argue with you, except to point out that a great many people are comforted by the answers that Religion gives to the Unanswerable. Not to mention that the promise of an afterlife provided by many religions is a great comfort to us small and insignificant humans. Hell, if it meant that I might see my Dad and grandparents again, I'd go for it! I'm not so sure that I don't already believe.

Whoa there. We haven't had a religion topic in a long time, except for that one short course in Jesus. Heretic just started a topic on Republicans and their Anti-Christ fantasy, but it's not really a general religion discussion. And nobody of a religious bent has "popped up" with a discussion aimed at "trying to convert" or "recruit" anyone for as long as I can remember. In fact, most of the threads on religion that I've seen have handed it a pretty good thumping. Are you having a bad day or something?

And they say there are no Atheists in the foxholes, either. You'd better believe I'm gonna pray for my husband when the Army calls his number.

This does not exist. there is no "afterlife".

many times, i've heard people that came close to death and claim they saw a bright light in the darkness, that someone from their life was there to tell them it's not their time and to go back. Having had a couple of "Near Death" experiences in my life, i can attest that this may be due to hallucination. the brain losing oxygen and causing people to see things that don't exist. In my two experiences, i saw none of this nonsense.Nothing but darkness.

OP, I know a lot of religious people who use their religion as a means to guide themselves.  Not to guide others at all.

Oh, I see why you started this thread now...

You wanted to "convert," "convince," or otherwise "recruit" people to YOUR beliefs.

Carry on.

My Dad came to me in a dream the same week that he killed himself after 30 years of struggling with his PTSD after Vietnam. He was a very reserved man who could barely look someone in the eye, let alone hold my hands and tell me that he loved me. And yet, that is what he did in my dream and I am happy and content that my father is now at peace. That dream is my reality....is that not what faith is?

Unh huh. And where might that be that they do this? Because remember, you're here, not there. And when they do that, what do you do? Do you argue your point of view? Or do you just stand there like a schmuck with your mouth closed, and then decude ti come over here and kick people who didn't do that to you?

Wow this is such funny entertainment. Really funny. Why do so many atheists come across like born again Christians ranting and raving jumping up and down wanting to prove how right they are and how wrong and stupid everyone else is?

Whew good times.

That's fine, except in this case nobody tried to convert you. You're the one preaching to the heathen. Which would also be fine, if you weren't in the same breath complaining about people who do that. Talk about opening people's eyes. Duhh.
