Wow this is such funny entertainment. Really funny. Why do so many atheists come across like born again Christians ranting and raving jumping up and down wanting to prove how right they are and how wrong and stupid everyone else is?

Whew good times.

because they "do" think they are right. it's like the series "Gor". people actually try to live their lives like that book too. Star Trek is yet another example of this. People modifying their lives after a fictional novel. Go figure.

Hahaha just like Jim Baker you kind of favor him too!

Go tell it on the mountain wee mikey poo!

Maybe get a big building and fill it with people so they can all listen to you at once! Maybe wear a robe! And put your arms in the air like you are lifting everyone up!

Maybe get some songs writ!

Can we, possibly, be spiritual (yet not religious) and earn your favor?

i'm very outspoken in public as i am on here...so, yes...people offline know i don't hold back when it comes to this subject

That's fine, except in this case nobody tried to convert you. You're the one who's ranting about the heathen.

K.

For the record, i never used the term "heathen". That's a religious term.

i think there's enough of 'those' type of people in the world. besides, i'd have to do like the churches do...charge admission...errr...ask for tithes...not to mention coming up with songs, develop classes and then there's the ever popular "B.I.N.G.O."

i was raised in a immensely religious family and the bible was my main form of "education" for my early childhood... one thing you notice( or should) early on is that god at best is imaginary at worst is a spoiled dom so bent on some childish aspect of control he loses it completely i mean come on his most faithful follower (job) had everything taken from him just because satan was toying with god. and this is a being people want to worship? a god who if represented as a man you wouldn't even respect in the lifestyle you choose to live? ridiculous... also for those who want to message me i can send them passages which say that to get into heaven you have to be beaten severely and anyone who does not accept this is not a son of god.... also i suggest people read what the bible actually says heaven is like... it doesn't say its paradise people it says its a place where you work and worship god for eternity with no sleep since their is no night only a bright light and you can not leave..... ummm hello what else do we know about that has beatings, worship, imprisonment, and sensory deprivation.

And by and large you wont get any soulful black folks writing great deep felt songs for you either. Your zealous movement will have no funk m'dear.

I am not angry at God. A lot of his followers kinda suck but I think He IS there, loving us despite our failings.

I don't much like the Bible. But one thing I've noticed is that people who live their lives by it and people who hate it have something peculiar in common. They both take it literally.

I do not know why this thread draws me. I am a bad excuse for a God-lover, but I admit my God-love anyway.

that reminds me...why do religious people use the term "God-Fearing"? if god really loved and cared for people...why should we dear him? just another one of those idiosyncrasies that remains a mystery

Take a look at the Old Testament sometime.

"Fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave."

Oh wait, that's David Bowie. Close enough.

I would guess that it's because they believed in the God of the Old Testament, who was rather full of wrath.

Edited for piss-poor spelling.

In my understanding, the word in the Old Testament most typically translated as fear is a Hebrew word that can mean fear, but also means awe, reverence, respect, and devotion. The King James translators chose to translate another Hebrew word as fear as well, although it too also means reverence, or object of reverence.

I would not argue with you, except to point out that a great many people are comforted by the answers that Religion gives to the Unanswerable. Not to mention that the promise of an afterlife provided by many religions is a great comfort to us small and insignificant humans. Hell, if it meant that I might see my Dad and grandparents again, I'd go for it! I'm not so sure that I don't already believe.
