Wulfchyld -> Mods (5/18/2006 10:25:48 AM)

This morning there was a thread about Mod 2. I read it, it appeared trivial and childish after the OP had made a few very negative posts about other members. Now I don't know what the OP was trying to do, but it was handled very wrong. So I had done the reasonable thing and read each and every post Mod 2 has made. Just as I read members posts to garner insight into their nature, character, and such I studied Mod 2. Now I don't really expect everyone to do it that way, but what I had found in Mod 2's posts was very impressive. Mod 2 engaged into topics with his opinion with professionalism. I did not find instances of abuse of power, childishness, or any other unprofessional conduct on behalf of Mod 2. If you venture to start a thread condemning a Mod, please make sure you can cite instances and provide links to inappropriate behavior.

Mod 2, I personally feel you are doing a very god job representing the site and hope you take the childish stupidity in stride. Your posts are professional and commendable.

Well said wulfie [:)]

Don't know if Mod 2 will get your message or not. I checked their profile and it says they haven't been on the site since September of '04.

Wulfchyld -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 10:40:40 AM)

Thankies Raven, I see them getting grief here and there but I rarely see them getting a much needed pat on the back.

mist, hopefully the powers that be will pass it on.

Dear Wulfchyld, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I guess I have missed something posted about Mod #2.  But, I do wish to agree with your manner in seeing the 'pattern of behavior' of an individual before making a statement concerning them.

I do realize there are days when it is a "bad hair day," or having a rough day.  But, when the majority of posts are of a productive and positive nature and good advice, the moderators need to be given support.

Even I have been prevoked but, it wasn't a moderator.  So, it can happen to anybody.

I also agree, it is easier to complain but, seems people forget to praise and or appreciate others.

Well done SIR.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

Mercnbeth -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 10:57:37 AM)

Loki,
Most likely this thread will become an "un-thread" and go down a fiery disposal bin similar to that used on the job by Winston Smith. But before it does, maybe some will get to read it so I'll post a reply, even though afterwords there will be no evidence that it ever existed.

A Moderator is a thankless job. Ideally they should be like umpires or any official at a sporting event; there but unnoticed. I wince when I see any Moderator post, because it takes away that "unseen" mystique. Instead of a "they" to address or blame for something that someone doesn't like, there is now a point of focus. Whether it's Mod 1, Mod 11, or Mod 6079, once they post they have an identification and create focus where none should exist. A posting mod replaces; "This site is unfair, prejudicial, has favorites; with "Mod 6079, is unfair, prejudicial, and has favorites." That said, it would be impossible for me to be a Moderator and stand quiet. At minimum, I'd have to create another profile to address some of the misinformation about CM that sometimes pops up, or even some "clever" retort/response to a thread. It must take impressive self-control for any Mod not to speak out more frequently.

Unlike the sports example, CM umpires aren't paid. It's a wonder why any of them put up with a challenge from people who have free access. I just hope that when the Mods do caucus they all support each other and stand by each others decisions.

Wulfchyld -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:01:34 AM)

Lady Hugs,

It was a deleted thread, may it burn, that was a childish rant. I believe mist pointed out clearly how trivial it was in her post. I thank you for your post Lady.

wytchywoman -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:04:40 AM)

I am so grateful that you created this thread. It does seem that some person who created a profile to specifically create a hostile atmosphere was here briefly this morning.

The attacks this person made against some regular and respected posters to these boards were outrageous.

MrMister -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:10:35 AM)

I can certainly understand how it is a thankless task being a moderator on this site, and I feel they should receive more recognition than they do. I personally see absolutely nothing wrong with them interjecting their comments into any line of discussion provided that they do so as Loki suggested; with professionalism, restraint (sometimes), and insight.

And to all the mods here, I give a hefty round of  [sm=applause.gif]

Thanks for bring this up Loki.

How is it that I always manage to miss the drama?

LaTigresse -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:16:15 AM)

Me too dammit!!!!!

Wulfchyld -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:20:05 AM)

Trust me, you thankfully missed it. The little (insert colorful metaphor here) insulted people I regard as very respected members of the forums and Sage’s by their own rights.

LaTigresse -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 11:42:50 AM)

well then, at least I know I did not miss anyone trying to pick a fight with little old meee. Dammit anyway.........I am feeling quite fiesty today. After the.......aaaaaaaa motorcycle "incident" last night........my claws and fangs have been resharpened and all polished, the bruises and swelling are under control......life is gooooood!

Absolutely.  The mods and the site administrators are one team with one purpose;  To keep the noise to a dull roar and make sure that you are all playing slightly nicer than pit bulls fighting over a poodle.

Collar Me is a site that was started by lifestyle people to create an atmosphere of learning, foster a community of fellow kinksters, and have some fun along the way.  For the owners who invest time, money and effort, as well as for all the other volunteers who also invest time and effort, Collar Me is a labor of love.  It's something that we do because we believe that this is a good resource and we want to keep it running.

We have some difficult decisions to make on all levels.  Attempting to keep the profiles and pictures as individual and expressive as the people that they represent without them being offensive and vulgar to others.  To making the forums a place where newbies can come to learn and ask, seasoned veterans a place to share their experiences and knowledge, and a place for friends to meet, talk, cry, vent and laugh, without having flamewars, insults, vulgarities, and general bullshit abounding.

Thank you for the ^5's, now, play nice and stop touching your sister.

Many thanks to you for being  a shining example of  an excellent Mod 12. But do I really have to stop touching my slave sister? -winks-

Dear ModeratorTwelve, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I do wonder, if other Moderators have the power/way to see in all topics and or are they just assigned areas to monitor.

Hopefully, our support is made known to the entire moderator entity, as it really is an important function they do, be it through one moderator passing the word/post on or if they independently can key word and read for themselves.

I will now add the first effort at using a "smiley" --[sm=applause.gif][sm=flowers.gif]

It wasn't so much drama as "obviously chip on shoulder with "anonymous new screenname" makes blatant dork post" followed by "amusement and sarcasm directed towards mr. Obvious" followed by "deletion of thread."

You gotta be net junkies man!  Don't you know the cool stuff only happens online?

Phoenixandnika -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 3:22:57 PM)

As far as the thread that is now gone.
Good ridance to bad rubish.
I don't understand it.
This site is Free.
No one is forcing someone who is so unhappy or angry about how it is run to stay.
There are other sites.
Why not be an adult and leave instead of the drama?

I am grateful for the mods.
In a whole I think they do a great job.
I also think a huge part of why these forums are so inviting to people and discussions is because of the job the mods do.
Thank you.

Blessed Be,
Phoenix's Nika

Wulfchyld -> RE: Mods (5/18/2006 3:50:41 PM)

Mods are human first and for the most part I have seen very good representation. There are Mods that do take their position to an abusive level and many of you who frequent the site knows exactly which they are. I started this thread in defense of Mod 2, wherever he may be, because he was being attacked and it was completely unfounded. I see a lot of fussing here and there. I myself will jump up and fuss when a Mod abuses their power. I have seen a poster get into a flame and switch to their Mod hat to bash their opponents and delete or sever threads. That is clearly abuse. Mod 2, as I said, has been very professional, and when I see a Mod posting and enjoying the threads it earns my respect, for they do it in a professional and/or good nature of the thread elevating the integrity of their positions.

If anyone feels the need to attack the mods or even point out their errors, cite it, link it, and be civil about it. On the same token, reach over and give that Mod a pat when they are doing well. I know their time is valuable, as is mine, and I have the leisure of being able to work from my PC. I think it is human nature to assume that such liberty is afforded to others, however when I stop and think about it; you (the person on the board) could have just came in from your day of digging ditches, giving stitches, or closing up a tax audit. Some of you know each other but most of us do not, so you never know who is on the other end of that screen or what they are doing, working, or who they are. For all you know I could be a bum in a box using the library PC or the guy who just gave you the anal probe over your taxes.
