At the end of the day, Zimmerman chose to pursue, and a teen is dead.
I think it is entirely reasonable for people to expect him to go before a Jury to defend his actions. If he does not, given that he apparently has ties to the local Prosecuting Attorney's office, there will always be strong ground to wonder if he was protected after breaking the law.
Granted, if he is found innocent, and the courtroom facts show that his innocence is based more on the way the law was written than on him making morally justifiable choices, then it would be bad for the law as written.
But Zimmerman could have just called the police and left it at that... Why didn't he?

Insanity would explain why he called himself "Captain of the Neighborhood Watch" when there wasn't a real, registered neighborhood watch, and why he would violate the basic rules of Neighborhood WATCH in pursuing someone while armed.

And why he didn't listen to the expert advice he was given when he began his negligent course of action.

I mean, no SANE person would do all the fucked up things George Zimmerman did, would he?

As we learn more and more about what really happened, Zimmerman chose to return to his vehicle after losing sight of Martin but Martin chose to pursue, then verbally confront, then physically assault and batter Zimmerman, and got himself killed as a result.

Having initially evaded Zimmerman, Martin could have also just called the police and left it at that...Why didn't he?

I haven't seen this information anywhere (and I'm not saying I doubt it; just that I haven't seen it.). If this is what happened and it is supported by physical evidence and eyewitness account, I can completely understand why Zimmerman is not in jail.

I refuse to try and convict him here (although with the information initially available, I did say that he sounded like a "cowboy"). I wish others would try to do the same and, if it turns out that he is innocent, then shame on the people who have called him a racist just to advance their cause and shame on the people who have demonized him by distributing "WANTED" posters.

That makes sense to me, the idea that we should wait to pass judgement instead of sending lynch mobs to his house is very reasonable. It's the people making up stories and coming up with evidence to exonerate Zimmerman that they can't cite and no one else has heard of that's really baffling and worrisome to me.

IF he is not charged I hope they release at the same time all the evidence they used to make that determination. If the evidence shows conclusively Zimmerman’s story is true then what will be your reaction?

My reaction would be: "Justice - to the best of our ability - has been served. It's a shame that a young man had to die but it is equally a shame that another young man had to be put into a situation where he felt his life needed to be defended to such an ultimate degree"

I would say it would then be time to apologize to Zimmerman and leave him alone...then go after the stupid ass law that was the true cause of this tragedy.

But that will never happen no matter what evidence or how conclusive it is. He will continue to be crucified by the African American community who will accuse the police of hiding or changing evidence.

I do not blame the African American community after this whole situation was mishandled from the beginning… It will just be another easily avoided tragedy that reinforces distrust.

If he is prosecuted it will seem to many that he was railroaded because of the negative publicity…even if he is guilty as hell.

There is no good solution now…just time to get the water canons and guard dogs ready for the riots no matter what the outcome.

He`ll get a show on foxnews......he`ll be fine IF he`s exonerated.He`s got a pay pal site with his pathetic story asking for donations......Kirata was right.......there is money in this.

He`s got a lot of explaining to do and questions to answer before all that.

Killing someone shouldn`t be that easy though........just say`n.
