DomKen -> Rape, football and Anonymous (1/3/2013 6:31:48 PM)

The details are too long to repost here. They are all here:
http://localleaks.blogs.ru/

What are we coming to when this sort of thing can not only go on but the perpetrators are actively protected by an entire community?

Here is a thread I started on this....

Its been a while but gives much of the background

I didn't recall a thread on this and a search didn't bring it up. I would have brought your thread back up if I had found it.

tazzygirl -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/3/2013 6:50:29 PM)

Naaa... thats ok.

Its all sickening what they have done to this girl and her family. And yet, to hear some around these threads, women dont need to worry about their rights under the law.

What are you doing about it? Why whine about it here on a forum?

Just going by the SAME rules placed on me. [:D]

the law and how it is applied are often at odds this seems to be the case here and it is a discrace

Unfortunatly these kinds of cover-ups have been happening since. . . well. . . since there have been people.

A silver lining is that with the interwebz more people are able to find out about what is happening in Smallsville in order to kick it out in the sunlight for some disenfection.

Would we have heard about this 30 years ago?  I doubt it.  Those that attempted the cover-up would have succeeded.

The original digger was a reporter. She kept at it and finally got Anonymous' attention. Hopefully, this will grab the states attention. As much evidence as they have against these guys, if a case isnt made, I see a huge lawsuit happening.

What am I doing about it? Signing petitions, volunteering at rape centers, helping friends who have been raped, and taking an active interest in male rapes and violence through various mediums.

Sadly, you cant say any of that, even helping out the males you so bitterly complain about.

jlf1961 -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/3/2013 9:48:25 PM)

I have often said, in these forums, that crimes committed by sexual predators such as rapists and child molesters should face capital punishment, in my opinion. I would also suggest using the cruelest, most painful way possible, the bill of rights only applies to humans.

naughtynick81 -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/4/2013 5:07:23 AM)

Tazzy

So show me the petitions for this? Or whatever you have done to help this cause?

Make all involved in the rape of the Steubenville scandal be pushed out of Juvenile court so there can be real justice.
there needs to be justice for the victims in the Steubenville, Ohio rape scandal. i'm requesting that this case be pushed up to the higher courts so that there is some real justice, also to allow for a jury trial for all involved. This is a serious offense and this needs to be an example for everyone that this type of behavior should not, and will not be Tolerated in our society. i don't believe that the police or news in the area of the alleged crimes that are covering the story are truly trying to prosecute the accused, but rather cover up a scandal that has dramatically effected the lives of many individuals.

It's not the rapists. It's the culture about them that permits this. You've got teenage boys, chock full of hormones, and a bunch of adults around them that condone rape. If there was a serious smackdown, this would be unlikely to occur again.

I hate to say this, but the adults did not seem to think that this was out of the ordinary. I'd be surprised if this was the first time that they covered up for rape, beatings, etc.

tazzygirl -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/4/2013 7:02:15 AM)

Its not the first time, sadly, for that community, or hundreds like them all over the country. But this is a problem. And these "football heroes" and heading to college. Their attitude wont change once they get there. Its not just a small town problem. Allowing these kids to believe they are above the law while in school is truly a disservice to many of them. The real world bites them in the ass later on and they act like deer caught in headlights trying to figure out "why me?, why now? I did it before and I got away with it, how is this wrong now?"

Lucylastic -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/4/2013 9:59:47 AM)

I dont know how I missed this ...either time around... Im feeling sick to my stomach right now

tazzygirl -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/4/2013 10:12:32 AM)

The fact that people laughed at her condition, then trashed her afterwards.... and the town is doing everything in their power to NOT do anything.... it all is sickening.

Powergamz1 -> RE: Rape, football and Anonymous (1/4/2013 10:19:36 AM)

A serious smackdown rarely changes such cultures, other than to make them more likely to circle the wagons.

Sadly, growing up in the south.....this is not the first story I have heard like this. Football is a religion that trumps EVERYTHING for some people...especially in rural redneck towns. It is disgusting. And yes, it would still be disgusting if these football players were raping boys or if the cheerleaders were.

Likewise. Wasn't there a film that pretty much depicted such a mass-raping by members of a sports team? Even that was hideous enough.
