White House Asked FBI To Publicly Refute Reports Trump Associates Had Russia Contacts

The White House is admitting that it discussed with the FBI media reports that Trump campaign officials were in contact with Russian intelligence agents and that Chief of Staff Reince Priebus asked the FBI to publicly knock down the story.

FBI Director James Comey refused.

The administration is pushing back on a CNN report that White House officials "sought the help."

A senior administration official told reporters Friday morning that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe asked to speak to Priebus on Feb. 15 and told him the report in the New York Times about Russia contacts was inaccurate.

Priebus had first been approached by McCabe after a meeting in Priebus' office on another matter, according to the official. McCabe told Priebus the New York Times story was wrong, and then Priebus asked McCabe, "What can we do about this?" the official said. Later, according to the official, McCabe called Priebus and told him the FBI "would love to help but we can't get into the position of making statements on every story."

The official said Comey later reached out to Priebus and said "the story was garbage."

According to the official, Comey told Priebus, "We'd love to help," but that the bureau wouldn't "get into issuing a statement."

The official said Priebus got clearance from Comey to say publicly that "intelligence officials" told him the Times' story was inaccurate.

Last weekend on Fox News Sunday, Priebus said: "The New York Times put out an article with no direct sources that said that the Trump campaign had constant contacts with Russian spies, basically, you know, some treasonous type of accusations. We have now all kinds of people looking into this. I can assure you, and I have been approved to say this — that the top levels of the intelligence community have assured me that that story is not only inaccurate, but it's grossly overstated and it was wrong. And there's nothing to it."

NPR has reached out to the FBI for comment.

He is refusing to attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Gonna stay in his room and pout.

How is he banning the Networks? The WH asked the FBI to publicly refute the stories (which the FBI already told the WH the stories were wrong). The WH didn't ask the FBI to lie.

Actually, I don't agree with Trump banning networks.

I am surprise he can legally do this.

He is now behaving like our Singapore government haha! I mean over here, it's legal. We don't have freedom of press.

But interesting that he can do this legally over there.

Ban me from what and why???
Because you cant handle facts???

How thick can you be

The story is that the FBI told the White House that the New York Times story about Trump having ties to Russia is fake news

So you and your other fake news sources, turn that into Trump is destroying the networks because of ties to Russia... And fools like you either can't think for yourselves, or you are such wastrel ideologues that truth doesn't matter to you, that you fall for the fake news every time

So WHO can't handle facts?

How thick can you be, never mind we know. The nutsucker who tried to obstruct justice by ordering the FBI to falsify its findings, is the nutsucker who said that the FBI told him it was not an issue.

When they put a headline on the real story that twists things, distorts the truth so that it is no longer recognizable, then yes it is fake news.

The real story is that the FBI approached the White House and told them that the New York Times article about Russia being involved with Trump's people was fake news

Was that the headline? You freaks have been shitting your guts out over the fake Russia scandal.

But of course not, NPR and all of the other alt left outlets cannot bear to report positively about the president

After all, he has an R by his name

So what do they do

They spin it into the fake news bs that you repeated

It seems the plan is to ramp up internet censorship, and allow more networks to be bought out by a smaller group of people-- most likely the crony capitalists that agreed to give Trump favorable coverage.

http://www.ibtimes.com/political-capital/who-controls-media-cbs-sinclair-ceos-predict-consolidation-if-donald-trump-goes

Jared Kushner has already openly stated that Sinclair media has agreed to favorable coverage in exchange for greater access:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-campaign-sinclair-broadcasting-jared-kushner-232764

Here come the state-subsidized pro-Trump media monopolies... penalize your enemies, subsidize your friends.
