Well it certainly isn't in the US.
And about this per capita thing, the only reason Chicago doesn't have more per capita is because they have alot of capita. They got plenty of per. It is just confined to certain neighborhoods, mainly where gangs are fighting over furf for their operations. No different than the 1930s really, but then the turf was about booze and jukeboxes and protection rackets.
And I don't see any of those surrounding communities on the list even. You would think they would be. They have more lax gun laws and they have less gun crime per capita. People want to compare to cesspools like NYC, and a few other places.
Just like the love it or leave it crowd about the US. They say "Try living in China or Iraq" and shit like that. Well how about try to live in Sweden, Uruguay, Dubai (Men only) and other havens like that. Even those island nations, with a $1,000 a month SS check you can practically live like a King because of the favorable exchange rate. And it is going to stay that way because that is how they make their money. They're not building jets, cars, TV sets etc.
Cleveland has a higher per capita shooting rate than Chicago, but that is mainly because we lack the capita. We had White flight a long time ago due to forced school busing. It seems to have never stopped. Some stayed but they got tired of having to drop their kids off and pick them up at the private schools. So they moved out to the suburbs.
They still come to town to cop drugs though. Not pot so much because there are alot of small farms where people just deal with family and chosen family and those people distribute it when necessary. they come for coke, crack, smack and other hard stuff. These have much stiffer penalties so in case of a possible bust they are alot more aggressive.
The whole thing is that most people shoot someone for a reason. Space, turf, whatever. They generally don't shoot their spouses, family, people they know, because they know they could become a suspect and be scrutinized.
Although the fact still remains that very few homicides are really investigated. there are more unsolved murders than solved. The TV shows might have people thinking different, but that ain't reality. In small towns maybe, mainly because the Citizens get paranoid and demand action because it is not an everyday occurrence. The TV has people thinking they routinely go through the cold case files and find new evidence or DNA or whatever and lock up the bad guy. Not in the big city, they simply do not have the time. they pick their suspect and if they can't get enough evidence to convict or scare him into taking a deal they drop it and it will never be heard about again.
Enough rant.
