Ford already cut 30,000 US jobs in 2006, closing 14 factories. This for a company that in 2008 employed about 213,000 employees worldwide. That fell further, then slowly grew back, but is still only 201,000 in 2016.

Not exactly a job engine. And that's GLOBAL. In the US, Ford employs 85,000.

Not sure. But you missed this part:

For the Ford brand, the new Escort, Mondeo and Focus, all built in China, contributed to the January record results.
