JVoV -> RE: This is why grass roots conservatives hate liberals (10/18/2017 8:15:21 PM)

Don't sweat it though. I'd fucking hate it if Bosco beat me to posting a thread too.

ShaharThorne -> RE: This is why grass roots conservatives hate liberals (10/18/2017 8:17:30 PM)

The school district that the librarian is in is in Cambridge, a rich district. The librarian wished the First Lady went to a less advantaged district that can really benefited from the gift since school funds have been cut for the less moneyed districts.

Well, I'm totally convinced now.

I thought we were talking about a librarian named Liz Phipps Soeiro in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I didn't realize your CNN link was about OH WAIT! Liz Phipps Soeiro in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

But Bosco, by using his 'howler term', has pretty much made any point on the matter you're trying to make here.

The first post is about the librarian asserting that Dr. Seuss is racist.

My post is about the same librarian refusing to accept books from the first lady. NOT because she is saying that they are Dr. Seuss books, and therefore racist. Rather, because, "Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children's literature".

Two different events that occurred at different times for different stated reasons. I thought the difference was obvious to everyone. I was wrong.

JVoV -> RE: This is why grass roots conservatives hate liberals (10/18/2017 8:26:40 PM)

Bosco's link is dated Sept 29.
Your CNN link: Sept 29.
Both in 2017.

Same librarian. Same letter. Same date. Same event.

But it's a catch22, because the only schools that qualify are outstanding schools, which most often are in districts with much more money.

Except my post is about the letter.

Bosco's post is about:
"Massachusetts librarian who compared Dr. Seuss books to 'blackface minstrelsy' once dressed as Cat in the Hat "... In his post, he refers to an article about the librarian doing what? Dressing like "Cat in the Hat"... Oh 3 paragraphs dpwn it links to the letter. The letter isn't even referenced at all in Bosco's post. It is buried in the article he links to and only tangentially mentioned.

Once 2 entirely different stated reasons:

Bosco's post: Dr. Seuss is racist - and librarian dresses as Cat in the Hat
My post: Librarian refuses gift from Melania Trump.

Millions of posts make some reference to artifacts on other topics. That doesn't make them the same topic.

NO.

NOT the same date
NOT the same event

Dressing up as Cat in the Hat and calling Dr. Seuss racist are 2 different events, which are entirely different from writing a letter.

All 3 happened at different times.

JVoV -> RE: This is why grass roots conservatives hate liberals (10/18/2017 9:03:54 PM)

Both articles have exactly the same link to exactly the same letter. Both articles published exactly the same day.

Did you read the fucking letter?

quote:

Another fact that many people are unaware of is that Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes. Open one of his books (If I Ran a Zoo or And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, for example), and you’ll see the racist mockery in his art. Grace Hwang Lynch’s School Library Journal article, “Is the Cat in the Hat Racist? Read Across America Shifts Away from Dr. Seuss and Toward Diverse Books,” reports on Katie Ishizuka’s work analyzing the minstrel characteristics and trope nature of Seuss’s characters. Scholar Philip Nel’s new book, Was the Cat in the Hat Black? The Hidden Racism of Children’s Literature, and the Need for Diverse Books, further explores and shines a spotlight on the systemic racism and oppression in education and literature.

OK, so one petty, selfish librarian hates that Trump is in office enough to refuse books for the kids in her school/district/whatever. Yeah, that's pathetic. And again, petty as fuck.

Either that or her library had already received a full set of Suess from the last two first ladies and she was suggesting Melania could send out some Richard Scarry or Roald Dahl or something instead...

Typical leftist trash, exactly like those you describe in your OP

You lick dog asshole to get the taste of agreeing with someone who makes sense out of your mouth

Now THERE is the Republican low-information voter, whose stereotype of liberals is reinforced.

Thanks for joining us, Bosco. I did a different take on your earlier thread.

my response to the last thread on the subject.
silly cow.
apart from the hypocritical bs from the usual suspects, its a shiny shiny distraction.
Even michelle obama celebrated Seuss, especially cat in the hat.
Health care is being ignored, tax plan is being ignored, NK is back in the corner, corruption is shouted down, but damn, should a feted librarian make a fool of herself.

so much winning.

Seuss was never widely politicized until Melania made her gift of Seuss books to children's' charity, then it became proof of "racism"

Therefore your reference to Michelle Obama only highlights your ignorance regarding the discussion at hand

None of the things you spew are being ignored, you are simply insane

its just too easy to throw that word around simply because we don't agree with someone's politics or we don't like them personally or maybe we don't see the method to their apparent "madness."however as concerns the comrades here on the forums, especially given their rampant clinging to fantasies, their seemingly constant "hair on fire" mentality and inability to follow logic or make distinctions, I agree theres a lot more case to be made for the use of the word in a broad, non-clinical sort of way.

Simply remove the bolded and insert rwnj.

Sorry hag

Not even a nice try

If you really think that health care, tax reform and North Korea really are being ignored, then you really are insane

It's not hyperbole and I am not joking

the topics werent being discussed last month,
there's not much covering any of them this month either, except one thread about NK being gone before the year out.
How many comments have you made on the subjects since sept 28?
*not including the thread started at the beginning of the week?
Not one of you "patriots" has discussed Niger, and the deaths of the green berets?
you havent commented on healthcare, you havent even mentioned tax reform.
why not?
the only person who asked about Niger was an australian. and that was before trump got involved in the argument about the deaths/obama not calling families.

How did you get from that to stereotyping liberals?

FFS. That's why I roll my eyes at conservatives spouting such crap.

I didn't get from that to stereotyping liberals.

My point is... This librarian's behavior matches the grass roots conservative's perception of a typical liberal. (A stereotype)

Stereotype: in printing: a process, now often replaced by more advanced methods, for making metal printing plates. (exactly the same)

So in sociology the problem is, stereotypes are most often wrong.

A simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group. (not exactly the same)

Now if your goal is to try and reinforce this stereotype maybe it's mission accomplished...hard to say.
