still loving it...now if we could just get your fellow comrade mnottertroll's fake profile taken care of.

If I remember correctly, he lives out in CA, so he might have a lot to contribute to this thread.

At one time, it was pointed out by a moderator that posters who are not here, for whatever reason, to defend themselves against other posters' comments should not be mentioned by other posters. It was either in ToS or general forum guidelines.

Same with people putting on hide. Anyone who puts a poster on hide should not talk about that poster as the two cannot hold a dialogue about what was said.

That and it is, in my opinion, a bit rude.

There is little-to-no doubt that one of our more heinously offensive new posters is, indeed, a sock for a poster that's been on a little mod-assisted vacation. So, that poster is, indeed, here to defend themselves.

The thing about the hide has always seemed craven to me, when the mods used to advise it.

If you put me on hide and post: "Michael, you're a dickhead", I will still see it. You won't see my response to you.

If my response is: "You're a twat-waffle", you're the one that "won't be able to respond".

I would tell a moderator about someone being abusive and they'd say: "Put them on hide" which would prevent me from seeing it, but not the hundreds of other denizens of this site. Kinda silly, that.
