ha ha, good one, because you are the sole arbiter of what libertarianism is.

how about actually reading their positions and using the language of libertarianism, refute them.

amazing what a elementary school mind you have.

seriously, are you even an adult?

Don't blame him, bounty. It's not exactly his fault.

This is the ONLY instance (on this site) of which I'm aware that there is a very personal underlying theme going on.

You see, years ago, when Alpha was still running this site (just to show how long ago it was), I did him wrong.

My back damaged his knife. I tried to find a way to apologize for it, but I just couldn't. I had him hidden for YEARS (since that time) out of my shame of not being able to find away to apologize to him for stabbing me in the back. I only took him off hide, a couple of weeks ago and ... well ... I've seen the years of bullshit, passive-aggressive and flat-out aggressive statements that have gone un-answered.

That, coupled with my new pledge to myself to really start having some fun here, has brought my shame of having damaged his knife to the fore.

He's just now, starting to get called out on years of bullshit and unsupported facts because, you know, he cares about people lying.

whaaaaaaaat? theres no one definition of libertarianism?? (note, NOT THE PLATFORM OF THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY)

quote:

Libertarianism (Latin: libertas, "freedom") is a collection of political philosophies and movements that uphold liberty as a core principle.[1] Libertarians seek to maximize political freedom and autonomy, emphasizing freedom of choice, voluntary association, individual judgment and self-ownership.[2][3][4][5][6]

Libertarians share a skepticism of authority and state power. However, they diverge on the scope of their opposition to existing political and economic systems. Various schools of libertarian thought offer a range of views regarding the legitimate functions of state and private power, often calling for the restriction or dissolution of coercive social institutions...

billy, you're a waste of flesh. You're taking up oxygen that would be better used on decent people.

I made the claim that you SAY you're a Libertarian and you aren't.

Are you going to say that you don't blog under "Michael the Libertarian"?

Go ahead and lie.

Do you believe in the party platform?

Go ahead and lie.

Keep wiping your ass with Commandment IX

Go ahead. What outrageous statements?
Why don't you just drop the Libertarian bullshit and own what you are.
A RW, "Moral Majority" Republican, and stop being a fucking hypocrite.

While this is an opinion and not a solid fact, it's not the claims to which I refer and you damned-well know it, a little less than intellectually honest, there, Mr. Honesty.

quote:

Are you going to say that you don't blog under "Michael the Libertarian"?

I would never say that. I've posted it here, myself, but again, that's not your bullshit claims that I was questioning and you know that.

quote:

Go ahead and lie.

No. I'll leave that to the professionals such as yourself.

quote:

Do you believe in the party platform?

Actually, I do, but the most important amongst the platforms seems to have eluded you - FREEDOM, especially of thought.

quote:

Go ahead and lie.

Again, you're far more experienced and proficient at lying so, I'll "bow to the master".

Well, we're getting closer to the meat of the matter, anyway.

There's nothing 2 faced about blatant disrespect for hypocrites and trolls which is what I show mr Hypocrite.

You're as libertarian as Hillary is Honest.

now just for fun---go ahead and post ALL the evidence in a persuasive essay from the anonymous "hard RW poster" that runs contrary to what you just posted about libertarianism

You mean the VERY pro life poster who calls himself "Mike the Libertarian" on his blog?

If you would get his cock out of your mouth long enough, you'd see it.

by the way, his essays aren't persuasive. Just ludicrous.

So, two outrageous claims for which you've presented not one scintilla of evidence. You must be a Grand Master Liar, at this point.

Why don't you just admit that you're a butthurt dick eater that is desperate "jones" mode?

See? My saying it doesn't make it true.

Poor billy the bitch.

Musta made up your own set of 10. My set doesn't have unnecessary or servile anywhere. Maybe a 6th century Monk came up with that one.

If you mean as I am sure you intended to mean, political philosophical purity, you don't get away with that. That is simply a means to cherry pick what you believe while still professing to be libertarian. For example:

'I like everything but the corp. subsidies, they are the backbone if [my] compensation'...see how easy it is ? Then there are [my] lower profits from all of the environmental concern.

So you see, on basic constitutional grounds, almost all of us can agree but there is no constitutional protection for the environment or for labor.

It seems that there is a YUUUUGE misconception about what a Libertarian believes in.

A certain hard RW poster even calls himself a Libertarian on his blog.
Several LW posters seem to think that Libertarian is something to the Right of a Nazi.

Which LW posters think Libertarian is something to the Right of a Nazi?

The big left wing criticism of libertarianism is that under such a system, there are few/extremely weak safeguards to prevent the well-off from doing whatever they want-- polluting, exploiting, plundering, etc.
It has nothing to do with comparing any libertarians to Nazis, where the government uses military power to enforce its own will and the cronies control all industry.

um no, and that's not the definition of "cherry picking."

in so much as i can make sense of what youre saying, what your describing is a facet or variant of "having ones cake and eating it too."

while it may indeed be and probably is a "thing," what im simply saying is people legitimately have hybridized views.

at the very least, because of your example, by "legitimate" I mean not baldly self serving and more importantly, indefensibly inconsistent.

Lucylastic -> RE: Libertarian (12/5/2017 5:51:54 AM)

My knowledge of libertarians was restricted, until the interwebs. All I can say is that most of the libertarian(self proclaimed) men I talk to online, sure dont practice it.
Especially on freedom of choice.(not just a womens choice over her body)
Too many of them seem to be wanting freedom of choice for them, but not for anyone else.
However I have met a handful of self proclaimed libertarians that I agree with, on many things, (usually they arent so outspokenly religious.( in my opinion))
But I dont pretend to know the difference in the philosophical differences between libertarians, and its above my pay grade and sense of wonder to look into any more...I just dont care.
But then you get that with dems and libs, cons and repubs, and the myriad of differences in each"term"
Like Religion, Race and Gender...not a single one of them is without their nutters.
