Jenna Bush begins national book tour
By BEN NUCKOLS, Associated Press Writer2 hours, 55 minutes ago

Jenna Bush looked poised as she stepped to the podium, but she couldn't quite hide the butterflies as she stood before an eager bookstore crowd Saturday to introduce her new book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope."

"This is my first day, so I'm a little nervous," the 25-year-old first daughter admitted.

Her face lit up, though, as soon as she started talking about the subject of her nonfiction narrative — a teenage mother with HIV whom she met during an internship with UNICEF in Latin America.

Jenna Bush? A coward who isn't in uniform.

"I didn't have something that I was passionate about," she said.

Guess the War against Terror isn't important enough to inspire her, eh?

I guess anyone that chooses not to enlist is a coward in Fargle's mind. Although even if you do enlist you risk being called a "traitor" by moveon.org. So I guess you are damned if you do and damned if you dont in this country when it comes to how liberals view the military.

I did too.  Diane Sawyer was on the View Friday promoting her interview with Jenna.  They showed clips from it, and also some of Jenna's work with kids with HIV, dancing in a circle with them and being a little silly with them.  It showed her to be a very intelligent and compassionate person.

As far as the constant Bush-bashing, it's getting tiresome.  We get it already.  At least Jenna's doing something positive somewhere in the world.

To be fair, c, not all leftists see through a cloudy lens, meaning, I think they can respectfully agree to disagree -- same for conservatives, not all are like Cheney, with his out of whack views on patriotism.

Like Level said, not all liberals think this way. There is very very little stuff that I agree on (from some here that claim liberal)

IF you support "The War on Terror"
AND are of service age,
AND are not in service,
YOU are a hypocritical coward.

"The Mission" is either worthy dying for, or it isn't.

To suggest that you "Let Someone Else Die" is the most cowardly act I can imagine.

Wow, a bunch of you actually fell for this?

Everybody who watched the TV interview think carefully about all the scenes of Jenna supposedly out in the field working with UNICEF. This was supposed to be in Central America somewhere right? In all those scenes where she was being silly with the kids or teaching them about prejudice etc. what language did she use? Was she accompanied by a translator? What language did these groups of kids speak?

So where in Central America are the very worst off kids fluent in english? Why would she discuss such a complicated matter as prejudice in english without aid of a translator if the students aren't native english speakers?

I don't know hat she did for UNICEF and have no idea if the details of her book are true but that interview was BS from start to finish.

I believe she's been to both Panama and Paraguy, in conjunction with UNICEF.

Having not seen the interview, I can't comment on it; what, you think it's all staged?

Do all the pre teens in Panama or Praguay speak fluent english? Would you discuss prejudice with a classroom of pre teens in a language they aren't fluent in without a translator?

No spanish was spoken by Jenna or the kids she interacted with during the interview. No translator was ever present in shots of her teaching even though she was using english at all times.

I don't know for sure what was going on in that interview but about halfway through it struck me as odd that all these incredibly disadvantaged kids whose faces could not be shown on US TV for fear of repercussions in their home country all spoke such good english.

Fargle, do you think even if she did enlist that they would allow her ANYWHERE near any kind of combat or danger? First off, the military doesnt like women in combat. Second, it would be a situation like Prince Harry...they just wont let him serve. Harry wanted to go but the Brits decided that it would just be too dangerous...not just for him but for his unit since the enemy would concentrate their energies on his unit in order to try to capture or kill the Prince. Al-Queda would absolutely LOVE that oppertunity. Is it fair to place extra burden on his unit just in the interests of equality? The Brits say no....and the Pentagon would agree.

Like it or not, that is just how it is.

They may very well be fluent in english; Jenna was a spanish immersion instructor, so, if they weren't able to speak english, she would have been using spanish. Or perhaps you just couldn't see the translator, if one were there.

None of this matters much, and does not detract from the positive things she's doing.

Most Panamanians from West Indian backgrounds speak English, which is also commonly taught in schools.

http://www.collarchat.com/m_1312216/tm.htm

And many poor children who have to make a living off of English speaking tourists/missionaries can become fluent in a hurry...just because they are poor or foreign, doesn't mean they are incapable of learning.

What's positive about your dad sending people to die in Iraq, and you not being woman enough to join up?

That's a coward.

Most people I know who really support the war, the kids would be ashamed to not signup.
