My point is that crap is crap.
Good leather and construction...bad leather and construction

A pair of 5 dollar shoes look just like that. And everyone can tell that a person that has a pair of 5 dollar shoes on there feet...care nothing for there feet, or themselves.

Now that also lends its self to the concept of education. I am in the business of leather goods so I am well aware of quality. My 9 to 5 is dealing with these goods. So when I voice my opinion you should also take into consideration that I am a professional in this business. I do not expect you to be on the same level as I am about leather quality. And I doubt that I am up to your level in your profession. But keep in mind that leather goods are not your profession.
Leather goods are My profession.
And I am one of the best in the country. http://GriffinLeatherAndMetal.com

Well Hi everyone

I have been reading the things here and I find it all very interesting. I do understand we all have different views on what is good and what is not, However I do not think calling someone a clown is nice, it is down right rude.  If you do not like the things I make then please feel free not to buy them. However and this is a big however, not every one can afford 200.00 for a flogger that if the truth was told only cost 10 to 20 to make and an hour of time. And that is with the best of leathers. I am not saying that you should pay 3.00 for the flogger that comes for China. However there is no reason why you can not get a good quality leather flogger for under $50.00.  And just one more point. Suede is not crap. There are people who love suede. And if you are looking for a soft flogger and don’t want deer, Suede is a wonderful leather.

Suede is considered bottom of the barrel leather. Made from splits or range animals with scaring so bad that the top grain is useless.
That's why its so cheap to buy.
Kinda like buying pigs feet, instead of pork tenderloin.

I think I will order the tenderloin.

My first flogger came from http://www.lordsandangels.com/floggerpage.html The flogger is beautiful and is still my favorite item in the bag. Total was about $63 with shipping. The propriators were extreamly helpful, knowedgable and friendly. they acted like they gave a shit what I thought. That goes a long way with me.

and by the way It is pigsfeet, I mean suede.

Hi! As U can see, there R many ways 2 pick your floggers...Up close & personal by feel, touch, grip, swing, etc. would be best.  Second option...if U can, talk 2 others in person & look at what they have & where did they get them...Third option...Talk with some Vendors who have been in the lifestyle 10-20+yrs who have been making floggers for average use as well as custom heavy use.  These Vendors will offer varying degree's of intensity, from light & soft, to sting or thump.  The Best of these Vendors will offer at least a 1yr. warrenty or more, some will actually give you Lifetime Guarentee, especially if asked.  Check out Leathrworks.com... They have been in business since 1987, & they stand Behind All of their work.  In fact, I am sure U could probably reach the owner, LeathrLee, at his e-mail if U had any questions.  I hope this helps U with your search.  Happy Hunting!!!!!!

did you ever consider that posibly that the tacks are decrative or that thy may be another way that the leather is held together and the tacks a just as a backup if even that?

Now did you ever think that trying to make everyone else look like an ass just makes yourself look like one?

How do you know that I wasnt looking at an item on your site and you have now desided that I will NEVER FUCKING BUY ANYTHING FROM YOU? I wonder how many other possible customers you have lost due to this thread?

These are my opinions, so there is no need to get upset.
If my honesty bothers you, then perhaps you should not reply to my postings, or reference them.

Bottom line is that you like what you bought. If you feel as though you got a deal, then I am sure others would and do feel the same way about the same product.
Its quite simple, we all have different taste.

And in reference to not buying anything from me as retaliation for voicing my opinions...get real.

Thank you all for the wonderful information regarding where to and where not to get floggers.   In response to Phin.....he lost one in me, cuz I don't do arrogant.   But that is his choice, and he and he alone, will suffer the ramifications of name calling and disrespect.

Floggers/whips/toys are very much personal preference.   I prefer suede because I am not a sadist, yet many submissives enjoy a good flogging.   Ok, some enjoy harder than I can swing, but suede is a good compromise and it marks less than other materials in the event marks are a problem.   When I buy anything I don't think it is the last time I will ever have to buy that toy.  As I age I find I prefer other things......so inexpensive is good in my mind.....however I Do try to find well made regardless of cost.....cuz like anything top dollar is not always top quality.

And I wonder how someone is going to tell, by just looking, how much I paid for something and judge me unworthy of their attentions?   I'll have to ask around .....but the people I choose to have in my social circle snub no one, cuz we all were new once, broke once and seeking advice at one time or another.

Check out: http://www.leatherworksbymobie.com/
This is a site of handmade items that are very nice. They makes traditional floggers and an innocent looking flogger called dragon's tail. Believe me, Master has used it on me and it is anything but innocent!

I bought from unowned and the top knot on the flogger has totaly come off how do I fix it?

I did too Feline.  The top knot came off the FIRST time we used the flogger.  I was very disappointed in the quality of the tool.

My first flogger was a Heartwood.  I was a staff member for a Leather event many years ago when there were few leather events and the only place you could get a quality flogger was at a leather event.  I have 10 floggers, one of which is horsehair all made by Heartwood.  Most of them are 15 year old or older.  Yes, they were very expensive.  But they are worth it.  They work as perfectly today as they did 15 years ago.  I agree that you get what you pay for in floggers.  Suede is not one of the leathers I have in a flogger.  I do not want toys that can not be cleaned.  Suede just does not clean well.  Also, they do tend to be a lesser quality leather.  Remeber, you are going to be putting that leather on someone.  You want something that will feel the way you want it to feel.  Not just something that was inexpensive.

As far as buying floggers.  I have always bought them at leather events.  Now I know what to look for because I was able after so many years to see and feel how they worked.  So, I am pretty confident buying online.  However, if you are a novice in buying floggers, you may want to attend an event and purchase there.  If, you want a reccomendation, I feel that Snake Pit Leather Works has very good floggers.  Quality workmanship, but it will cost you.  Check out their website or sometimes they sell on ebay.  If you want a flogger that you can use for 15 years and play hard with, then you are going to spend at least $200, possibly more.

One more comment, I do not have any floggers that are not older Heartwoods.  That is because she was bar none the best flogger maker on the planet.

So how did the flog hunt go?  After almost a year, how is it (they?) holding up?  Personally when I hear flogger, I think THUD,
and the best thud for the money (in my humble & out of date opinion) is soft elk, moose, or buffalo.  It's weightier, & therefore thud-ier.

Regarding the original post, I like fetters, www.fetters.co.uk (I dont think it is .com?) yes they cost that little bit more, but they last so much longer (mind you, several of mine have gone missing???) and still feel as good as the day they arrived!
