the sound of bones popping into place is like nails on a chalkboard to anyone else.  i fractured 3 vertebrae in my back long long ago (after a bad riding accident as well lol)  and to avoid surgery went to a Chiro,  i put up with it for as long as i could, then ran far far away.  LOL  Would rather deal with the pain than hear and feel those sounds  ~icky shudder~

I must be sick... It's never bothered me and gives a feeling of satisfaction, knowing that I can actually hear my body getting back into place. I love my chiro here. roflol... He'll tell you that himself. I go to him first, my PT second THEN my doctor.

Well, I think the mind has great power, in talking about it, my head has begun to hurt terribly and I feel the stifness at the base of my skull...time for a nap.  Or excuse for a nap. Who knows.  Not much time before the school bell rings and I have rugrats to entertain.  Better get on it!

Hope you all have a wonderful day and that the migranes keep themselves at bay.

~Kisses

I hope the rest of your day goes well and pain-free. Take care Minxy.

But, that still doesn't prevent the vibrations from within your body while the bones are being manipulated and moved. Somehow, I'd equate the vibrations to the sound and still cringe, even if I couldn't see or hear the bones being moved.

bye Minxy!  Hope the nap helps your headache.

sappatoti, i think the sensations would still have me trying to cringe away.  Add restraints along with the hood and ear plugs...

Ladies...I also have ways of helping with migraines.  As a matter of fact, I have one of my migraine sufferers coming in this afternoon before it really hits her (best time to take care of them).

I love getting adjusted when I have a migraine!!!  Just the "CRACK!" of my neck make me start feeling better..

about 10 years ago, my husband took me to the ER for a migraine..  I threw up all over the ER Dr...  They gave me a shot of demerol..  It was great...   My husband leaned me against the wall so he could unlock the front door.. I slid right down the wall to the floor...  Slept for 2 days I think...

Demerol is good. For me, the local ER has it in my chart to administer morphine and get me through the MRI stat. I've got a severe case of claustrophobia and the only way they can get the MRI done is with me on the morphine. Oh, while it may not ease the pain, at least the morphine allows me to have a free pass with the "I don't give a damn about anything or anyone" attitude, which helps.

;-)

Demerol doesn't actually do a lot for the migraine itself - it just makes you feel good.  Morphine is a bit more selective in the painpaths that it blocks.  That is the reason for all those other drugs first - the anti-nausiant, the anti-histamines, the non-narcotic pain killers, the steriods.  They all work on different pathways.  Sometimes a dose of a few of them will be repeated.  And now these days Fentynyl is by far preferred over morphine.  At least it worked on me!

ok ok I know I'm sorry I shouldn't have done it but someone Canadian had to put their two cents worth in on the gun debare and that person was me.  If my stance on gun control upsets anyone here please believe that it was not a personal attack on any individuals but on the system itself.

Thanks ng. I read that thread when there was only two posters, so I'll go back and take another look at it.

My last taste of a medicinal treatment was 18 months ago. I could not tolerate the side effects of that pain prevention treatment and thus far, there is no other drug in that particular class of medication that will help reduce or prevent the symptoms of complex migraines. So, I've been trying to deal with my situation via lifestyle changes, but only with very limited success.

The only reason I get morphine in the ER is if I'm brought in with stroke symptoms. I'm extremely claustrophobic and cannot get into an MRI without being sedated in some way. Morphine is in my medical records as a proven drug that's well tolerated and works quickly enough in order to get the MRI done within the time needed to see if a stroke is indeed happening. If it weren't for the MRI, I would not receive any sort of medication at all.

As it is right now, the docs are calling my diagnosis "complex migraine/TIA/stroke" syndrome. Because of the "complex migraine" portion of that diagnosis, the usual arsenal of classic migraine medications are contraindicated (according to the local neurologists), so triptans and the like are immediately dismissed. What's left behind are a number of anti-seizure medications which, as resulted by past experience, my body has severe reactions with. At present, my only recourse is lifestyle changes and to deal with the syndrome as best as I can. That and an enteric-coated 325mg aspirin each day -- on the outside chance that my syndrome may actually be stroke related after all.
